I recently picked up :

The Saboteur, The Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena, and Yakuza 3.

I didn't have much high hopes for these games but I am liking all 3 of them. I bought them for pretty cheap as well. In my opinon they were overlooked. (By me anyways)

Obviously the graphics are dated but the gameplay is fun and engaging and thats what matters the most to me.

Any other hidden gems I should look for?

Bourne Conspiracy

Stranglehold

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard (the first thing I want you to do in this game is pause it and tell me what happens :P you'll get a chuckle out of it) it also has parodies of various games you might see a Metal Gear Solid reference in it!

Alice: Madness Returns. I liked the trailers when I first watched them, but I decided not to buy the game then. PSN made a special offer for it a while ago and I decided to buy it, and I have to say it's one of my favorites now.

Darksiders, Heavenly Sword and WET also deserve a mention.

I would also add

F.E.A.R. 1 & 2.

Condemned 2.

50 cent Blood in the Sand.

Not the greatest games ever made, but you should have plenty of fun for very little.

Mafia 2. Maybe not so "hidden" but it was a great story driven game and was fun overall too.

Great.. keep em coming. The best part is that most of these titles can be picked up for 10-15 bucks.

Just Cause 2 can be downloaded from PSN for $7.50 in NA right now. Great game great price.

Valkyria Chronicles, Folklore, original Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Siren: Blood Curse had issue but it was still very atmospheric and Heavenly Sword come to mind. Great games.

  2. Yakuza 4.
  3. Vanquish.
  4. Binary Domain (made by Yakuza dev).
  5. Vakyria Chronicles.

With Butcher Bay included, you sure are.

Overlord is one of my favorites

'Gem' is such a dodgy word nowadays, everyone seems to have a different meaning for it. In terms of relatively unknown and / or not high selling but good- games I'd say Apache Air Assault and Lost Planet 2.

Majin & the Forsaken Kingdom is a pretty good game.

+1. Way ahead of it's time, HD remake holds up really well.

What about Nier? Oh, and when it releases sometime this year, Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut.

As mentioned before: Just Cause 2 (only 7.50 on PSN, what are you waiting for?!) Rage (one of the most underrated games ever in my opinion) and there is a great DLC called The Scorchers just released for it). Far Cry 2 (the re-spawning enemies actually add to the atmosphere of being in a war zone for me).

Valkrie Chronicles

castlevania: lords of shadow (great sleeper hit)

heavenly sword (still one of the best looking and underrated games on the ps3)

vanquish (what it lacks in story, it more than makes up for in gameplay)

i thought lords of shadow fit this pretty well. i wasn't real impressed with ff13 / 13-2 either.

although i am not into third person view games, other than rpgs like gta or rdr or okami, etc., this game got me hooked... if you are into third person frantic shooters, you cannot go wrong with vanquish... :)
