I went to EB Games afew days ago and Was offered a game guarantee when I baught MGS4. I think it is just a little thing for EB Games to make a lil cash. $5 AUD for a Guarantee that you will never use, I don't need CD insurance!!

What do You Think, Is the Game Gurantee from EB useful or A Marketing scam?

I value your opinion.

Its good for people with children or just dont take care of things because if you break it you get a new one. I never do these things and hate being asked about it because i take care of my things.

I never get it because I'm careful with my discs and who I lend them to, if I had kids or something I'd consider getting it

On PS3, It's a bit of a rip-off. Other consoles, however, are a different story. They cover against console burns from a 360 (which can be a real live saver) and if you have kids who don't take care of the discs, it's great for that too. It's just not for everyone. Sometimes people just want peace of mind when spending a lot of money on a game, even if there's little chance it will break.

The game guarantee at my EB Games used to be $3, but I bought a game last night and it is now $2. I'd say that's a good indication of how well this service is doing.

Here's a thought for those of us who have kids, if they break it, it's gone until they buy a replacement and they cannot opt to not replace the disc either. That'll happen maybe once and they will learn to take care of their things.

Like most extended/bonus warranty, it's a scam. The company is betting you won't break the disc and/or your electronics won't break down before the warranty expires.

Yeh True, The Company Wins the bet most of the time but you'd think they would loose with Xbox360 As they break so often.

True. But due to the that console's failure rate, many companies no longer offered the extended warranty due to losing money.

I had a friend who bought PC games, then he returned to the shop saying that the game did not worked or that it had been stolen when he was about to get to his car, and the guys at the store gave him a new copy, which he sold in the interwebz

bah, i dont buy games from EB or gamestop.

they sell used games as new games.

IMO, as long as someone unseals case and touch the disc after it leaves factory, it's a used game.

Or if they stick a NEW sticker on the cardboard box of Bioshock, I don't see how it is new when the case has a sticker/rip on it permanently.

this is actually really funny. i bought COD MW2 today on my 360. i booted it up, went to plug in the ethernet cable, pulled out my chair from behind my desk. "TUUKKHH" the 360 fell over and COD wouldnt work. 15 minutes between purchase and death.

in general i wouldnt buy that though. never buy warranties i always keep my things organized. ive never had problems with my games or consoles this generation. this was the first time ive had a scratched disk or broken anything.

Thats a very rare incident and 360 & PS3 Are different Consoles. Like Srs If I had 360 games I would get warranty for it. PS3 Is betta.

I never buy into that crap. I take care of my things and if I do (happen to) break it, I do feel it's my responsibility. Not something I would "count on" a store to instantly solve because I'm a fumbling idiot.

Defective games on the other hand, are thankfully exchanged for free without the need of that "protection" BS (because that is a sales pitch in today's society, "protection"). I've never had a problem with that before.

They're blu rays.

You don't really need to worry too much about them getting damaged.
