I'm wondering if any of you have heard anything about a new ps vita? The psp had improvments made to it as was seen in the 2000 model for example. I'm wondering if an improved ps vita is around the corner. Anyone hear anything?

Haven't heard anything, though there were rumours a while back about Sony ditching the OLED screen (some heavy users on Neogaf have already had blues start waning due to the OLED tech). Unlike the original PSP, though, the Vita is a pretty solid piece of hardware as is. If it gets revisions, I expect them to be aimed at cutting production costs of the system rather than adding features.

The PSvita is just over a year old in Japan. not even 1 year old in North America. So it is way too early for PSvita slim. Which will eventually happen. But not yet.

I think it is too early to be honest. When did the slim psp come out? 2-3 years after the original? I'd expect that, especially with the high price point right now.

How? How exactly can they improve the Vita? There isn't any way to slim it down without it feeling way too flimsy. It's already ridiculously slim and light. They can't make it smaller either seeing as there is barely enough room for everything right now as it is.

I couldn't see a remake happening at the moment. Considering how poorly the Vita has been selling there must be store room's full of them. They need to actually sell the current system before they can think of making a new one.

Honestly i dont know what they can do in terms of redesing, since PSV is really stylish, slim, offers a great large screen and is light.. Imo its design is perfect !!

Maybe they could somehow make it smaller but not too sure about that..

1. Slightly thinner and lighter (look at phone trends, I seriously can't believe any of you think it can't get thinner).

2. Brighter screen and/or higher quality control (learn OLED MURA)

3. Twice the RAM (PSP 2000)

4. Slightly better clockspeeds (software: advent of PSP 2000)

5. TV Out if the accessory port of the current VITA doesn't allow it

6. Less flushed PS, Start, Sel. buttons

7. Some minor redesigns on cartridge and memory card slots.

Late 2013 to Early 2014 for at least an announcement... specially if they don't do a price drop.

1. No way in hell. The thing doesn't need to be lighter or slimmer. Any more and it's going to feel flimsy.

2. Again, not likely. It's a waste of moeny for what little it does.

3. Extremely unlikely. I know ti happened with the PSP, but the Vita isn't even being used to its full potential yet, they'd have no need to add more hardware.

4. Same as #3, extremely unlikely.

5. Would be useful, but I doubt they'll make a new system just for it.

6. Again, a small design decision not likely to warrant a redesign.

7. Seems uselessly vague. The slots work perfectly fine as it is.

#4 - The PSP 2000's launch only coincided with Sony's unlocking of the clock speed on both versions. The 1000 is every bit as fast. #5- Sony's already come out and said that the Vita's not capable of video-out. If they could be making money from a possible peripheral, they would be.

Vita is almost perfect... too bad people don't realize and just bash on it.

The only thing VITA needs is a price cut and little bit more of software... hardware is awesome! Especially if you compare Vita's hardware to 3DS it's like ages ahead...

No, I'm not exaggerating at all. The Vita needs a lot more games for it to compete.

I would love it if they did a PSP GO style revision or perhaps a clamshell design to protect the screens w/o a case--though I would not want it to be download only like the Go. I am not sure how they'd deal w/ the dual touchscreens but I would play my Vita a lot more if it were more portable. My other handhelds slide in my pocket no problem. The Vita is too big and has an exposed screen plus little analog nubs that can get caught on the edge of a pocket and so I wind up having to put it in a case and then I can't keep it in my pocket. I love the thing but end up leaving it at home in favor of other devices for this reason.
