If when you turn the system on it stays on briefly, press the eject button as fast as you can to try and get the game back. Who knows if sony will send you a refurbed system or same one just repaired (meaning adios Ridge Racer 7)...

That sounds like there could be a problem with the power supply in which it would be a good idea to call Sony up. And as far as the game even if they send you another system Sony will send your game back to you (usually a few days after you get your system back). And as far as the disc being damaged there isn't much of a chance of the disc being damaged because the Blu-Ray disc is very hard and very hard to damage.

Hi Beejy, I did follow your instruction BUT still I can't get my RR7 eject from my PS3, ANYWAY thanks guys for your quick responds and advises. GOOD LUCK.

#12 Posted by razial65 (147 posts) -
You don't have to turn the ps3 on to eject a disc. Just press the eject button while it is off and it should eject your disc. I do it all the time.

Ok, ill give u an advice: Call or Email SONY, or, take it to the place from where you bought it and ask the person if he/she knows whats up.

There are many reasons why this might happened to you, so there might be ways of fixin it.

GOOD LUCK and I hope you fix it.

try holding down the power button for ten seconds (well, keep your finger over the sensor that acts like a button) and it will reset to factory settings. Could be your settings are corrupted.
#16 Posted by CanJayLive (111 posts) -
my ps3 did this shyt before just hold down the power button and maybe it will start back workin but it don't just keep missin wit it u probably get lucky like me if not ure goin to get a new ps3 from sony anyway
#17 Posted by chewoocheung (68 posts) -

Hi coreyb42, I did try your advise that hold the power button for 10 seconds, but still don't work (NO LUCK), i think i have contact SONY for service.

Thank for you advise.

#18 Posted by chewoocheung (68 posts) -

HI GUNpoint, I always eject the disc after playing it, but this time , I forget to take it out and PS3 can't turn on again.

But THANKS for advise man.

#19 Posted by jimm895 (7703 posts) -
I never turn my PS3 off and the only time I take a disc out is when I change the disc for another disc, so leaving a disc in the drive shouldn't ba a issue. I was thinking of something else here and that is try seeing if one of the cables in back has happened to get pulled loose from the connection. Also sometimes electronics will come back if you unplug the main power cord and just leave it unplugged for a while (I think it allows the power supply time to cool down) that could have overheated because of a power spike or even a power drop beyond the usual fluctuation of AC power.
#20 Posted by damageplanman (1 posts) -

hey guys i've seen alot of flashing light stuff and that means it's overheated but mine has a solid red light and won't turn on at all even by pressing the ps button i've un-plugged everything and tried again but still nothing

someone help!!

#21 Posted by chewoocheung (68 posts) -

Hi damageplanman, my PS3 is flashing red light and auto shut down after I turn on, so I send to SONY, they fix it for me, I think you have to contact SONY service.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

#22 Posted by oleb84 (1 posts) -

Did you ever get this fixed?

Did you fix it yourself or did Sony fix it? If Sony fixed it, how much did it cost and how long did it take? Ive got EXACTLY the same problem and im seriously considering going out to buy another ps3 right this second as i have 3 great new games to play!

#23 Posted by hozaeskeez (1 posts) -

A flashing red light does not mean its overheated, this happened to my PS3 and I contacted professionals to get a true response. If you get a continuous flashing red light after attempting to switch it on, it means the power supply has defected. The only solution is to take it to a shop for repair or buy a new one.

#31 Posted by lului619 (3 posts) -
i have a ps3 too but there seems to be a problem: my ps3 wouldnt turn on at all. checked all the plugs, the switch in the back but still no sign of life. so what i did was bring it back to best buy and they sent it to a specialist. why do u think this happened? plz give me reasons so i can prevent it from happening next time.
#32 Posted by xXcmacXx (4 posts) -
whoa i guess i;ve been playing WAY too much if there is a power supply disorder... why doesn't this happen to everyone that plays 10x more than me? lol guess its like the red rings of death if there is any easier fix please tell...=( Btw if i were to send it to sony how much does it cost and how long does it take?
#33 Posted by samuraiguns (11588 posts) -

sounds like it overheated.

#34 Posted by maverick_76 (2188 posts) -

I just had this happen as well, I guess it is a defective power supply. I hope that is the case because I have an original 60GB system, and my warranty is out so I guess I gotta pay for it. Oh well, this is my first system to malfunction on me, guess it had to happen at some point.

#35 Posted by salsh12345 (1 posts) -
I have the same problem but when i turn it on it turns on for a sec and then the ps3 makes a beeping noise and then the red light turns to whiteish greenand starts blinking red again and i hav my game call of duty in there HELP
#36 Posted by yiufaing (1 posts) -

I have the exact same thing. I haven't been playing my ps3 for 2 months. When I turn it on today, it goes to red light problem. Sucks.

#37 Posted by PeterGowdy (2 posts) -
I'm having the same problem. Can't turn on my PS3. Light goes green briefly, then the blue light next to it flashes and then it flashes red. Has anyone found anything out about this at al?? Seems it's happening to a lot of us.
#38 Posted by PeterGowdy (2 posts) -
ps. About this possibly being over-heating, i haven't used my PS3 in well over a month so very unlikely it's overheated.

Sorry to break it to ya pall but most likely those are YLOD sintoms. It happened to me also before the (in)famous YLOD appeared. Start saving for a new one

The quickest fix for this problem is: Take a hammer and directly smash its face in. Cover it in an accelerant of some sort (alcohol, gas, etc) and just like in the movies toss a lit zippo out and throw it in slow motion. Let the plastic that was assembled in a sweatshop melt thoroughly before you go 1950s ganger on it with a tommy gun. Hope this helps. Buyers beware anything playstation or xbox. They both suck, ive seen many many many of both red ring and orange dot or just stop working without any signs of warning. Its wrong that people spend hard earned money on this crap (and money is harder and harder to get these days) just to get something that dies Just outside the warranty. Its poo ass crap. Dont buy dont fix. Quit giving them money and they will eventually lose.
