I have a hard time finding MGS collection in any store. Only Amazon has a new copy of it but it's from a third party vendor. Did Konami stop producing this game?

I am not too sure, but I just purchase a copy used at gamestop the other day. Funny thing is, I am playing it now. What you should do is go on gamestop.com, type in your zip code, and see which local store has a copy near you.

Wouldn't a used copy not have some of the things from the disc? I heart 2 of the games in the collection are download codes, so I would essentially miss out on 2 games if I buy it used...

That is false. I believe you have that confused with GOW Sagas. At least you were careful before purchasing it used, but MGS HD Collection comes with Peace Walker, Snake Eater, and Sons Of Liberty all in one disc http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection/91655

You could probably buy it on amazon for a low price.

Yeah, the thing's out of print, at least for the PS3 version.
And no, there's no codes or anything on it.

Ok, I need an MGS expert to give me advice. I really want to get into the MGS series, but I don't know where to start. Can anyone give me the games I need to play in order to understand the story, and in what order I should play them in? I know Snake Eater is the 3rd game, but technically the first storywise, so I need some help. I'm not interested in spinoffs games or games that don't add to the main story. Thanks.

I'd just play them in order of release. When I go back and do my yearly or so run through the series I do them in order of actual timeline, but I would think you will have the best first experience going through the series in order of release for several reasons. So I would go MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGS:PW, MGS5. Enjoy! If you have spare time, you should keep a blog going on your thoughts on the games as you play them.

You might as well, either way it's enjoyable also to replay them. Im playing MGS2 right now and this is probably the 100th time since 2001-2013. It brings back memories.

Ok thanks, dude.

I'll probably buy MGS1 on the PS3/PSP and then borrow the rest from a friend. I think he has the PS3 HD collection, so I'll be able to cover all my bases there.

I agree with this. Play them in order of release. Though it's a real bummer for everyone who now knows Big Boss is a main protagonist of the series. Finding out why Solid Snake was romping around during the Cold War was quite a shock for me!

For PS3 ? If so, we should play peacewalker sometime. Coop side missions and etc. This may sound loco, but I've been hooked on playing MGS lately instead of touching GOW ASCENSION

Yeah definitely I love Peace Walker! And I can't say I'm surprised anyone would rather play a MGS over a God of War game. :P

I seriously agree. I have a Nintendo Gamecube sitting (somewhere) so I will take the time to find twin snakes soon eventually

I am actually considering trying to get all plats for MGS HD Collection. I have to admit that it reveals how much jokes and insiders Hideo Kojima added into the titles

I would pay 60.00 to get MGS The Twin Snakes HD. We need to make a petition for that :P

Right when that came out I wanted to plat them all too.. And I still might, but it's going to be over years of playthroughs not through actual trophy hunting. On the topic of Twin Snakes, sure it controls infinitely better, but it changes who Snake is.. He has some of the best CQC on the planet, but he is no Cyber Ninja.

The Matrix-y was bad enough, but what really threw me off is how the whole tone of the game is changed. The different music and lighting made the GC version feel so foreign.

Im assuming that on Twin Snakes they make him more acrobatic or some sort ?

Idk I found Twin Snakes to be perfectly fine. But then again it was also my first experience with the game so I couldn't compare it to the original PS One version :P

And I think that about sums it up for all of us. Whichever version you played first is likely to feel like the more authentic version. Twin Snakes is cool, it just didn't feel quite the same.

It's sold in stores still, but it's pretty rare I notice, still holds a high price as well, it's like finding The Sly Cooper HD Collection, which took me a LONG-TIME to find it good thing I got a copy :D Go on Amazon or something and stop talking like stores are the only thing, we have Internet now :P didn't you know? :D
#33 Posted by AdamPA1006 (6417 posts) -

This game was hard to find even the year it came out it took going to a couple gamestops for me I imagine its even more rare now.

Well I could always get the MGS1 on PSN or copy. I have to grab MGS4 again. After a few months Rising.

I use to have Twin Snakes a long time ago, but no longer. It's too expensive for me now though. I already bought the PSN version. It's not bad, although the controls can be clunky.

I heard that. You'll get used to it though.

buy it fast because the game is getting quite rare and the prices are starting to raise.

#40 Posted by Lionheart08 (15341 posts) -

It's that rare? I actually managed to find it last year no problem.

#41 Posted by Mickeyminime (1119 posts) -
These things happen all the time, even with semie new ones released a year+ or more ago. There are a few games i can't find and are only available on the web
#42 Posted by Spartan_N7 (576 posts) -

Unfortunately, I cant find it as well. I found a used copy at Gamestop, but I want to keep Metal Gear Solid on my Playstation, instead of having 1 and 4 and then having 2, 3, and Rising on my Xbox.

Edit- They do have MGS 1 through 3 on PSN though. Thats how Im going to buy them when I get paid. Its more expensive but atleast you'll get them.
