Kevin Butler supporting the Wii

lol I just saw a commercial for Bridgestone tires and former(?) spokesman for Sony PlayStation, Kevin Butler, was in it as well. Apparently Bridgestone is running a promotion where if you buy four tires you can get an American Express gift card or...a Wii game console! I just found it funny that Kevin Butler was in the commercial and so excited about the Wii (in the commercial he's playing Mario Kart and wins 1st place).

Anyone else see it?

yea... does it mean he is getting payback at sony for something? maybe for dropping him from the commercials?

lol he's a funny man isn't he? I think I saw him selling carpets on Twitter once. He's a comedic actor, he's simply working with which ever company he has a contract with at the moment. I haven't seen him do any Sony commercials recently so I'm assuming his contract with them expired and he moved on.

Nah, I don't think it's anything malicious like that. He's just an actor trying to stay employed :D

That's my guess, too, that his contract is up. That's too bad.I know Kevin Butler isn't his real name, but it's just odd seeing him in a non-Sony commercial; he owned that character.

He's an actor, your not going to turn down work invovling another console because you did a series of ads for the PS3.

yea he was funny, but i think the sony ads were running out of steam and it was about time that sony changed the ad campaign. i don't know why he was playing a wii in a bridgestone tire commercial though lol

Melodramatic, much? Or are you really that sensitive regarding Jerry's career? Pretty pathetic. He's an actor; will appear in whatever commercial comes his way. He also appeared in Malcom in the Middle amongst other things; oh no, the gaming community and sony ;'(

WAT THE FVCK How can Sony lose such a characters? This is Crash all over again! I'm kinda happy he's alive though. He should become a gaming gag character instead of moving from one company to the next, that'd be cool.

he has always been an actor. most people know him from ps3 ads. i know him from that one episode of everybody loves raymond and various commercials.

First of all, his contract with SONY ended a LONG time ago, we havent seen him do anymore PS3 stuff since Resistance 3 came out. Second, he was doing a commercial for BridgeStone, not for Nintendo. Third, he has done thousands of commercials for thousand of different companies has been on countless TV shows playing background/silent roles or B-roles where he just has one or two lines. I see all the time on something different everytime I turn on the TV. I actually play a game of Where is Waldo, to see if I spot him on some channel/show that day Im watching TV.

I know he has been in atleast 3 episodes in Everybody Loves Raymond. Its funny how he still looks the same, even tho that show ended in 2002.

More like a sad day for SCEA. It doesn't bother me since Kevin Butler was never used in the SCEE regions.

I'll definitely miss seeing him doing crazy stuff at E3. Sony needed him badly in this year's conference, but I guess its like someone pointed out already the joke's were starting to lose their edge

An update: Sony Suing Bridgestone Over TV ads with Kevin B.

#26 Posted by mav_destroyer (3062 posts) -
That's really odd, why would they sue if he doesn't work for Sony anymore? Unless he's still working for them...
#27 Posted by TonyDanzaFan (2973 posts) -
I feel bad for him. I just read on his wiki page that Sony is suing him. He's a fudging actor, actor's need work, I'm sure he didn't know he was going to be doing anything wrong when he agreed to the Bridgestone commercial.

They're not suing him, they're suing Bridgestone.

And suing the advertisement company Jerry Lambert owns.

Does he in fact own the advertising company in question? I've never read anything to suggest such. Even if he does if he and his company have in fact violated their contract with Sony then it's his own fault.

Do you have something to support that? As I said, I've never read a single thing to suggest such.
