Just thought of something regarding Christmas

As we've experienced on the North American and European launches, PSN buckles severely under pressure. Now there were over 2.1m systems sold, and the majority of them will be activated in two days. Do you think PSN will be down during Christmas during this massive PS4 activation period?

I'd say it might not be an issue, but PSN also had trouble on the European launch, which was only a few weeks later, meaning Sony still wasn't prepared. Hopefully, it'll just take one or two tries to log on. I know lots of people are planning on using their holiday time to really dive into some games. This will likely affect both consoles, but I only have one and experienced the downtime twice in November.

I think it might have some issues Christmas day but probably won't effect nearly the same amount of people that it did on day 1 launch.

I only had 2-3 failed log in attempts the following morning after the launch. Some people couldn't log in all day.

Also im sure some people will be busy with family gatherings etc.

I would plan on downtime from late Dec 24th through the 25th

Sony failed to learn from the NA launch and the European launch was just as bad

I would expect that they didn't learn from the US or European launches and Christmas will be shaky for most users

The worst is over, the launch days were the worst, it will only become better

I don't think so

Christmas is the largest day for consoles starting up and being used.

Not everyone is going to play that day, nor are they going to play online or buy stuff

A buddy of mine who I sold my extra PS4 to this past sunday said he had some issues setting up his system. He said he tried to log on 3 times before he could get everything up and running.

They are, they have for years

PSN is down currently, it's the only service that's down right now out of the three companies

That's odd considering that Sony has said that people are unable to connect and their site is completely down trying to manage the numbers

You're a very rare case

Well Christmas day was certainly not the worst. Only a couple hours of downtime but i was able to start playing. Unlike launch day when it was impossible to even update the system.
