Today, my dad's friend gave me a PS2 with some games!!!

Can anyone recommend me any good PS2 games??

Okay, here you go...

Timesplitters series - Amazing, amazing games. My personal favorite would be the third one, Timesplitters Futur perfect. However, all of them are essetiall Goldeneye with about 100x more features. Oh, and all of them come with a mapmaker. A GOOD mapmaker...

Ratchet and clank - one of the playstaton's flagship platforming games. Get Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. That's the best IMO.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1&2 - If you enjoy hack and slash games like Diablo or Torchlight, then youll love Dark Alliance. For the limited power of the PS2, both games have excellent graphics. They also have 2-player co-op and tons of things to see, do and collect.

Gauntet Dark Legacy - Another hack and slash title, but a bit different. This a true co-op game, and the game is simply massive- about 70 levels, any of which take a good 20 minutes to complete, sometimes more. There are also 20 some characters to unlock and play. To some the graphics might be too outdated but the art style is nice and very colorful.

Deus Ex: The Conspiracy - A port of the amazing Deus Ex for PC, this game is a bit more of a streamlined, consolized version. The entire game is roughly the same, with similar graphics, weapons, etc. But it has been tweaked to work better with a gamepad. Which it does. In fact, it's one of the best games on the system. Think first person shooter meets RPG, and that's a good way to describe Deus Ex. A personal favorite.

Check those out, you won't be sorry.

@mwright469: I will check those games out! Thanks mwright!!

Also check out the following:

Sly Cooper - easily one of the best platformers ever made. Light stealth mechanics, quirky humor, and very well done atmosphere with fun stories.

Jak & Daxter trilogy - phenomenal platformers made by Naughty Dog (who also made Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, The Last of Us). Just check them out.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 - If you like the Metal Gear Solid series at all, get these games.

Silent Hill 2 - one of the single best survival horror games in existence.

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 - think Final Fantasy meets Disney (literally), and then add amazing action RPG elements. The story kinda stops making sense by the second game, but they're incredibly fun to play nonetheless.

Shadow of the Colossus - a masterpiece work of art in gaming. The gameplay focuses on only boss fights, but trust me, it's much more incredible than it sounds.

Okami - beautiful game based heavily on Japanese lore, with great unique gameplay, an excellent story, and awesome characters.

God of War 1 and 2 - excellent hack-and-slash titles based on Greek mythology.

Final Fantasy 10 and 12 - both have very different gameplay styles, but if you're into JRPGs, you should give these a chance. Please don't let the FF fanboys dissuade you from trying them out.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - the best of the PS2 GTAs, in my opinion, which means lots of sandbox fun.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant - amazing RPG with a great story and interesting gameplay mechanics.

And that's all I have for right now. Try these out, as these games were my childhood during the PS2 era.

@mariokarthero: Because almost all Final Fantasy fans have blind nostalgia for the original PlayStation games and the earlier SNES releases. 10 had a different combat system, but the story was honestly the most unique of the franchise. And 12 may have had average characters, but the gameplay, world design, leveling system, and overall atmosphere more than make up for that.

Nope! Gaming is a personal experience that only you can decide which games appeal to you and which genres you like. Watch , read reviews, and you can do it. You're smart enough and good enough to make your own game decisions.
