Hey so I have a new tv and I was trying to hook up my PS2 to it using the composite cables that came with it and I got the sound working just fine just not the video. Is there anyway to hook up a PS2 using composite cables to a newer TV? The picture is the back of the tv. Any suggestions besides buying component cables would be really great.

It may just be a case of needing to change the PS2's output setting.

  • Turn on PS2.with no disc inserted
  • Press down
  • Press X
  • Press up three times
  • Press X
  • Press right
  • Press X

If not, you may need to adjust your TV settings, as it may not know what to do with a low res signal like the one coming from your PS2.

The back of your TV also supports Component cables for the PS2 as well as composite. Component is obviously better so that's the route I'd take.

Did you get the yellow and white cables mixed up? I used to do that constantly.

How do you remember that?

you can also look for a good deal on a HDMI stereo receiver many of them will upscale PS2 to HD, but those models can be expensive but you get a lot of HDMI inputs that go along with the PS2 upscaling.
