How to add subtitles to a movie that plays from a dvd

hi there,i bought the authentic LoTR on dvd and i wanted to watch it on ps3 with couple of friends.Problem is i need to use subs for my native language but it supports only 5 languages...is there a way i can use srt subs or smthin,like im doing on pc movies?
