how do you voice chat with friends while playing games?

my friend and i tried while playing each other online in NBA 2k7 last night. there didn't seem to be any option to do it. I had my PS eye on with the blue light on too.

wow i see........so even using a headset is not an option for games like Socom?

during online games you should be able to but on PS3 you cant just chat smeags11

To be honest, on online gaming when you want 2 talk to friends, your better off creatin a private match between u andur friends, because sometimes voice connections fail when everyone is tryin to talk, or ....... u may of accidently muted a player, when a match is over and the end screen comes up, pressing square cn mute player.
