How do I recover my files from a formated ps3 hard drive?

I accidentally formatted my ps3 hard drive thinking that it was my external hard drive. But I stopped the progress at 0% after realising this. Now when I start my ps3 it says " This hard drive must be formatted" If I choose No! it says " Cannot start, the correct hard disk was not found.

DOES ANYONE KNOWS HOW I CAN GET BACK MY PS3 WORKING AGAIN OR HOW DO I RECOVER MY FILES???????

Umm you kinda can't. Maybe if you connected it to your computer, but even then i dont think it would work.

well this actually happened at 0% of the formating process, do you think all my data was deleted?

No it wouldnt have been deleted, just to your PS3 it thinks its ready and its i lined up to be deleted, if that makes any sense

You'd have to set the hard drive's code to match your PS3 in order for it to recognise it as it's original HD. But I would have no idea where to send you for that. Srry man, TS. (really it is!!!!) You can try the PC forums. (They might know the way through) Mind you, it's almost a hack, so you probably wont be able to do it on your own. (Unless you're a hacker O.o)

In other words, if I take out the hard disk from the ps3, I can have a specialist recover my files for me mostly my saved games data which is what I'm really worried about!

Thanks! but I just want to be sure first that I have not lost my data especially save games data!

Probably, but there certainly is a way no matter what, but I have a gut clot saying they might have to open your PS3. But ultimately try & find out the exact info from someone who specialises in that.

There's a program I have used successfully with PC HD's called PhotoRec. (Just do a search on Google) It's a free program. I just had a guy who decided to blow away a partition on his second HD, and I was able to get all his files off the HD. It took about an hour for a 120GB HD. Don't know if it will work with a PS3. Not sure of its file system. But it might be worth a shot, if you can get the HD out and put into a PC.

It probably had already formatted some of the system files, you could try and get a device that would allow you to connect a laptop hard drive to a PC. That way you might be able to pull files off if that wasn't the first thing formatted. Otherwise I think you have lost your info.

Plug it into your PC and see if you can ready the files... if not, your screwed
