I have been an Xbox gamer for abput 5-6years now, however I'm looking at buying a Ps3. I was going to just stick with Xbox till next gen, but i can pick a super slim 12gb one up for £125 which is a steal. Do you reccomend getting a Ps3, bearing in mind i have CoD, Fifa etc on Xbox so will really only be using Ps3 for exclusives.

What do you think of the price tag? and how much am i looking at spending on some exclusive games?

Sounds like you're a pretty serious gamer, so you should be made aware that most PS3 games have a fair install to the HDD, and those new 12G units are NOT going to hold you over very long, you need one with a bigger HDD unless you'r only intending to play one game at a time, then erase all of that game's info to install another ("Gran Turismo 5" has a base install of over 10G, that's an extreme example, but you see where it can go).

The PS3 is a wonderful system and there are several games you've genuinely missed out on being a 360 player, but get yourself one with at least the 120G HDD if you're gonna join us. You'll be happier in the end.

It's a pretty fun system but it's only going to get cheaper at this point and it won't even take that long. I'd hold out until you can get a really killer deal.

For $125.00 whatever the current Pounds/Euros exchange rate is then buying a PS3 superslimline with the 12GB flash memory is a good deal. I'd recommend getting a larger HDD you can use any 2.5 SATA HDD with PS3. So you may find a good deal on an HDD.

PS3 has many exclusives so if your buying on then you have lots of games to discover from 2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,2012 That are "Only for " PS3. So yep take the plunge. Welcome to PS3.

It may be more cost effective to get the 12GB and then get a larger HDD separately and upgrade it like Megavideogamer mentioned. The process is very painless if you don't have any data to backup so doing it right when you get a new PS3 is ideal.

Agreed. I usually assume that most people who buy consoles are doing so because they're not tinkerers, and as "easy" or "painless' as it may seem to you or me, there are some folks out there who aren't really aware of these things, don't own any tools no matter how common... Housewives who just got their nails "did"...

... y'know.

Having purchased a 120G myself, years ago, I find I need a new HDD... But that also keeps me honest about finishing games and working on my backlog so that I can delete stuff. If I had a tera drive, I would never finish anything, the way my gamer ADD operates...

True but there are plenty of tutorials out there and the only tool you really need is a screw driver. I see your point though.

I just got an XBOX myself, I would say it's worth it to get a PS3. I played through the end of the Halo 4 campaign today, and for some reason I had an urge to go back to LittleBigPlanetKarting. No seriously though, it's definitely worth it for exclusives alone. Especially if you get a deal. One of the reasons I decided to get a 360 was because of the Holiday bundle and some amazing deals. After playing Halo 4 I would say that even though people diss the PS3 shooters like Resistance and Killzone, that they hold up extremely well in comparison. I found Halo to be all flash, but no substance (I actually found the gameplay a bit boring, and the story was just too... full of itself?). I guess it didn't help that I remember nothing at all about Halo: Combat Evolved - so really didn't know anything that was going on in Halo 4. Take a look at something like Starhawk, in terms of story it's generic trash. But to actually play the game, I actually think Starhawk looks and plays better online. I think in terms of variety, certainly the PS3 exclusives are worth it, and of course going forward - even though I now have both consoles, almost all the new exclusives I care about in the foreseeable future are going to be on PS3 (God of War: Ascension, Last of Us, Ni No Kuni). Admittedly I'm still checking out some things on the XBOX, but I think I still favor my PS3.

If you are getting a PS3 that only has a 12GB HDD, you better plan on buying a new bigger HDD to replace that super tiny 12GB HDD. The good news is HDDs are pretty cheap.

This is the truth and yet M$ has done better financially this gen. It's pathetic if you ask me, SONY has done nothing but cater to gamers everywhere and it bit them in the ass.

There are enough PS3 exclusives to make one worth a purchase. In your case I would highly suggest buying a pre-owned system (not from GameStop, though). Try Craigslist. Hell, I have a spare PS3 I'm trying to unload if you're really interested. It's an 80 gig model. As long as you're in NA and not international.

Get a PS3, you will be very happy with yourself.

If you can spare the money then go for it! I think i was in a very similar position when i got my Ps3. The exclusives on the ps3 are shhhaaaawwweeeeeeeet. A good amount of the exclusive games are platinum or just fairly cheap these days so i don't think it'll cost too much to pick them up.

Also, did you mean 120GBs, or is there actually a 12GB PS3? Up until this thread, I have never heard of a 12GB PS3 and I have never seen one in the stores.

It's not a mistake or a misprint - There really IS a PS3 model now, with a 12G drive.
