Here is a better question, does the PS3 play any region DVD or is still stuck into a single region like PS2?cometflashYou lost me there my friend. For example, US and Canada uses region 1 DVDs, Most part of Europe uses region 2 DVDs, so European PS2s only plays region 2 DVDs, American PS2 only plays region 1 DVDs, and Japanese PS2 only plays, whatever region number they use. So I wonder if they play any region DVDs or just one like PS2. I have no idea if blue rays have this region thing, which I don't understand myself the reason to have.
Two things:
1. This is a board to teach me in the ways of the PS3, not to guess how old you are!
2. New question, what is better, PS3, or Blu-Ray DVD player?

Like almost all DVD players the PS3 is region locked. Blu-Ray movies are also region locked, though the regions are organized differently compared to DVD.

Do you know if there is any code to unlock, like many dvd players has lock, but entering a code you can unlock for region free. I have a DVD layer, by sony in which I unlock to Region free. I didn't knw Blue ray also had regions. It sucks for people that lives outside countries that manufacture the PlayStation systems. It sure take off the advance of Blue Ray driver, if you live in a different area, Like you can see here when I talk about region no many people seem to know about. I hope those that lives in countries that has different regions in which PlayStation supports check it out before buying one, specially if the solo reason, or the most important reason is the Blue Ray drive, or looking for a Blue Ray/DVD player.Do you know if there is any code to unlock, like many dvd players has lock, but entering a code you can unlock for region free. As far as I'm aware there is no legal way to unlock a PS3.

I'm certain people could import PS3s from countries with the same BR region code. As there are in fact only three of them:
Region A: Orange
Region B: Green
Region C: Purple
It's a fabulous DVD player, it upscales to a full 1080p and anything beneath. As to which is better: blu-ray will give you a much clearer, detailed picture, but at a cost. DVD is still good for the low price, but for a film you particularly love get it on blu-ray.
yes, the PS3 or any Blu-Ray player for that matter can play dvd's, but it doesnt work the other way, DVD players do not play Blu-Ray movies (many customers at my job think their dvd players can do that) which identifies them as the ultimate noob
