So my brother and I both share a PS3. One day, my brother decided to format the PS3 hard drive because there wasn't much space on the hard drive left. Since my brother has OCD, he formatted the hard drive multiple times (3 times to be exact) and is about to format the hard drive again.

My questions is, can formatting multiple times damage and break the hard drive and the ps3 itself?

P.s. He also kept turnings he ps3 off and on by pressing the ps button on the controller, can it break that way as we'll?

Formatting a hard drive doesn't break it..not matter how many times you format it.

Like dalger21 said nothing will happen if you format the HDD many times. If you run out of space you can just delete the games that you don't like instead of format the HDD. It will be easier and faster than format your HDD (Hard Drive).
