All the HD T.V's I see are all more expensive than the PS3 , when will the price go down. (£500 too expensive).

HDTVs are about as cheap as regular tvs were 5-6 years ago... I remember working at circuit city and regular Standard def 32 inch tube tv was almost 1000 bucks.... i think we're spoiled after seeing them now for 300 bucks or so.... amazing what demand will do to a price ;)

well prices are going down
also you don't have to get a 40incher or 50incher or the super plasma deluxe

I got my hdtv (lcd) 26"  fits in my room great for around $600, and it's pretty good. (not 1080p) you can get a Sony Braiva for $899

Whatever fits your circumstances

true, but that could be said about any technology. starting in 08, all cable networks will be forced to broadcast in hd. sd will be obsolete and hd will be the new standard. i think 08 will be a larger than normal drop.

They are not being forced to broadcast in HD...the only thing the cable companies are being required to do is broadcast a digital signal instead of an analog signal...that has nothing to do with HD content...and certainly doesnt mean that HD will be the new standard and everyone is forced to go out and buy a new TV...digital cable still provides the options of displaying 480i - 1080i

I'm gettin my third hdtv sometime in March, I'm not getting ny games tho. Some1 a few posts up sed u don't have to get a super deluxe tv. That is true the 1 in my kitchen is a 27" 1080i Panasonic, and it looks phenominal. The 1 in my living room is top of the line and it looks great. Do you count HD projectors, cuz I have 1 of those also.

Why is everyone keep on complaining about the prices.....you don't have to get the best HD-TV.....get one for $1500-$2000.  Also try to save some money up insted of wasteing it in the nightclub douring the weekend.  Let me ask you....how mutch was your pc??? An avarage PC is $1500-$2000....and that's not even capable of grapichs like the PS3 is capable of.

You should spend the majority of your entertainment budget on a good TV, then audio system, then game system/movie player.

That being said, you can get 37" 720p plasma TVs for under a grand on line, and smaller LCD HDTVs for under $700 bucks just about anywhere. I have a 42" Sony 3LCD rear pojection HDTV and I got it for $1200 when it retailed for $1700 last year.

The cheapest option is get a decent 17" widescreen digital LCD monitor with a 12ms response time or lower and HDMI to DVI adapter. Then you can play in HD for less than 300 bucks.

480i really goes as digital ??? Not arguing, but I was kind of thinking 480p was the lowest or are you saying the cable company can convert the digital signal? Every day you learn something new so might have been this for me today :) In addition to your post -- people will be able to buy a cheap digital to analog converter. It has even been discussed about the government paying for them since they are selling the analog spectrum for TONS of money - so digital tv's won't just drop like a stone... they will keep dropping in price, but then new technologies will keep coming out and be way more expensive - like everything else around.

you don't have to. ever heard of renta center. i bout my tv there. you pay more in the end for the tv say the tv goes for 2000 you end up paying 3000 for it. but at least you don't have to pay up front and soon they will have ps 3 for rent. after you rent it and pay it off it is your to keep. the real good reason to do this is if it takes you three years to pay it off anything with in those 3 years the fix for free. my hd-tv screen went wak and the gave me another hd-tv until mine was fixed.

An average PC is nowhere near 1500 to 2000 dollars. What planet do you live on? And 1500 - 2000 dollars for a TV is a lot of money. Period.

Yeah I with this guy...an avg. PC is like $800....for $1500 you could build a PC that is far beyond the capabilities of a PS3...Seriously though...where do you get your computers from?... And yeah $1500 is a fairly large amount of cash..especially for a TV....
