Go into the settings of your PS2. Go to the settings for screen size. If it is currently set on 4:3, as I assume it is, change it to Full Screen. That should fix your problem.

Maybe its the positioning of the screen. Some games in the settings have the function of allowing you to adjust the positioning of the picture on the TV. Just a guess though

...you can still adjust it within those games that allow for the adjustment. But it'll only be fixed for that certain game.... and not all games have that option built in. As for the PS2 bios settings.... that option isn't in there.

What kind of TV are you on? HDTV? every HDTV I've seen has a vertical adjustment of some sort in it's own menu system. Newer sets allow for both vertical and horizontal, adjustments. Anyway...I doubt it's the PS2's fault, probably more your TV's fault. You can check that by plugging in your PS2 onto another set...and see if the bars aren't there anymore.

I know this sounds absurd, but you want to take your PS2 in to where you got it and have it replaced. I had the same problem you are having and I tried it on a couple of tvs. Same thing. I took it back into EB, got my refurbed one that I have owned for almost a year now and have had no problems. I don't know what makes it start doing that, but that's what I had to do.

Also you might want to be a bit more gratious to people that bother replying to your posts. It nothing else it makes people want to help more when you aren't a jackhole about it. So you will get more for yourself. Hurray for you.

NO one said it was the game.....

And spanky333 didn't assume you bought your PS2 at EB. He said, He bought his at EB.... You need to quit skimming post that are directed towards yourself..... makes you look like a fool. And by service.... Otakuray meant, grab your reciept, go to the store, go to the service desk...and say, "it's broken and you want a replacement".

...I suggest trying it on another TV, first. For all you know the Wii and the PS2 use different resolution signals, or the cable itself is screwing things up. By trying it on another TV, you at least can verify it's not the fault of a 20 year old TV. Then can narrow it down to either the PS2 or the PS2 cable. In which case... get a new cable... if still messed up, get a new PS2.... or cut your losses and don't bother doing any of the above....and just live with it.

At least you can check the coding in the stripes. Smart thinking on Sony's part. I don't know how many times that has saved me a few dollars.

Those numbers in the stripe parts. Might have to turn up the brightness on the TV to see them. I didn't have to because I have a nice flat screen, but I would imagine on an old tube tv they would be harder to spot.

Then you just reference to the chart on the site.
