Agreed, only now have I had time to play Dragon Quest VIII a long time after its release and I am loving it to pieces. There might not be many blockbuster games coming out this at this time but the PS2 has a huge library and plenty of games to keep me happy. With the games on my shelf that have not been played yet and a few more coming out I can easily see my PS2 lasting until 2008 at least.
Actually, GOD of War 2 will keep the PS2 alive. Cuz once i buy it, im gonna try and play it, right? PS2 won't die. I haven't even played all the great games on it yet. Ico, MGS3, Dragon Quest, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Gran Turismo 4. I havent played any of those yet, and i plan to buy them once i find them. On the PS1, i still haven't played FF anthology. Can't wait til it comes out on the PSN.
again ??................sigh .....there's stilll persona 3, Odin's sphere( pretty much a legend of mana rip-off in my opinion ), and dawn of mana.....the ps2 has still alot to offer gamers out there, logically just stop playing it when you're not in the mood, its as simple as that.
No, i do not believe that's true. It may be the case for long time PS2 owners who have passed all of the games they liked and moved on to the next system, but that does not include the millions of new gamers that either want to experience the great titles of the PS2 or just do not have the money or desire to purchase a more modern system that comes with higher costs (including HDTV, cables, etc.), nor does that include me among others, who still have love for this system, along with games they or I haven't played yet. My argument, however, is just one side of the spectrum. There are many other reasons that i can come up with for why the PS2 isn't dead yet. But to add to what I stated previously, the PS2's price make it an attractive commodity that could potentially draw in fans from other systems like Xbox, and make them reconsider the PS2 and all of its great exclusive titles. I mean, really, you can claim that the PS2 is alive n' kicking from any angle; Although i realize that there are those who would argue to the N-th degree that the PS2 is dead until their ears begin to bleed... and they may make some strong points like that the PS2 is slowly stopping production of games, unless of course they already have stopped, but units will still be sold and games will be bought. I won't make any predictions as of how long the PS2 will last, but i will say is that there is still a lot of life in this amazing system. It's like fine wine, it gets better with age... ( I don't get the whole cheese analogy though, how does that get better with age, the s*** just starts to smell... don't know why i said that :) )
Absolutely not! First off, i agree with everyone else who stated all the magnificant games released throughout the lifespan of the ps2. until u can experience them all, u cant call the console dead. Besides, would u really want the ps2 dead knowing how abysmally the ps3 is doing? I sure dont. On top of that, Red Octane and Activision confirmed that they will still be making guitar hero games on the ps2... is that not reason to celebrate the life of the ps2?

I'd say so, but it'll be only owned by collectors by the time PS4 comes out, but i'll think it'll stay a while after GOW2
Theres still an bunch of good games coming out in the future, and I still have loads of older games to catch up on. I have too much PS2 left to play that I've hardly thought much about the next/current gen consoles.

I do not think so but I have to say that I think this is the last big game coming out for it. I cannot see them releasing anything major for this system anymore especially when they are wanting to push their PS3.
considering the highest rated PS3 game got an 8.6 who really is jumping out of their seats to upgrade......its obviously just because of "th3 awsum grafix!" there are tons and tons of games i havent played on ps2 so its not dead for me. it may be dying in terms of production but it will never "die". go look on ebay folks...not even the SNES is dead
Not neccessarily, there are going to be a good 2 years, before Sony pulls the plus on the Playstation 2 behemoth. There are even new Guitar Hero expansions set out for it, in the coming year.

Electronic Arts announced that they will make games for PS2 until 2010. PS2 is the most sold console in the history. They sold 100 millions. PS3 just 1 million. This makes no sense.
The PS2 still has a lot of life left in it. I don't think that everyone is going to move over to the PS3 just yet. When you think that Sony stopped manufacturing PSones last year it means that PS2 will still be in production for sometime to come and with more games on the way.
No chance PS2 is going to die anytime soon - it still has tons of good games coming out on it ...
 Sure it has very few AAA exclusive games coming out anymore but people need to learn to look back in the libary of games they dont own yet ...
 Trust me -- in 15 years every1 will be like "Wow u got to play PS2 when it was in its prime !@!@!" ... so dont go and try and kill the system on us now ...
The PS2 won't "die" after GOW2 . We will also be getting good games like Burnout Dominator and GTA VCS . But I also hope that TMNT , Tomb Raider Anniversary and Medal of honor Vanguard turn out to be good . And after all the hype , I hope GameSpot gives GOW2 a 10/10 .
with Sony losing alot of $$$$ on ps3 (not being able to meet shipping quotas) its software division will probably release more games to get thier bottom line up

This is a really stupid thread. Just plain foolish. Mr. T would pity you. He would. Of course it isn't the last game, or even the last great game. Since when can you predict the future? How do you know that with new motion sensitive tech coming out for PS2 we wont get a slew of fantastic innovative games? Or don't you even know about that? Do reasearch before you ever dare claim that one of the greatest, most versatile and best-selling consoles ever is dying. Its outselling the PS3 I might add, and has new games coming out with PSP connectivity, as well as a widening range of online games. The PS2 may soon be on its way to hitting its 10th, but it'll damn well out-live the gamecube and xbox, and may even be remembered as sonys greatest achievment, before their fall from grace. Don't cry dreamcast. It upsets people.
