I have good points here...

First of all Lou gets the first oppurtunity of battle power, and you know the ai won't miss it. Of course that doesn't exactly screw you completely, just as long as he doesn't get LEFTY FLIP, DOUBLE NOTES, and AMP OVERLOAD (amp overload is actually managable about half the time)... But when his first battle power is one of those, I find myself just surviving the next section, let alone hitting the notes I need for MY battle power... But let's say he hits you with BROKEN STRING or WHAMMY instead. You'll be fine in getting the next battle power (assuming your skill level is to that point), because you'll be able to fix the string or whammy your guitar back into working order before the fast part that holds your battle power begins...

Now you've gotten battle power and things are looking great... Well, not exactly. You see the ideal thing for you to do is use youre battle power at a point that keeps him from getting his next battle power... but there's yet another dilema; some of his battle powers are actually simple enough that DOUBLE, LEFTY FLIP or AMP OVERLOAD don't screw it up half the time... You are relying on getting the WHAMMY or BROKEN STRING... And if it's BROKEN STRING, you're hoping it's gonna break a string he needs for battle power.... More luck in the mix...

Now even after all that... It's really not the best idea to use your battle power just to stop him from getting his. The reason why is because I'm sure you know you need to get him to fail. Well using one battle power on him brings him down pretty good, but one will never take him all the way down, in fact two or three might not even do the trick. So you must then save up battle power and at the right point use your whole arsenal with strategic timing to take him down... Only problem is if you're not stopping him from getting battle power, he's certainly going to stop you from getting it, assuming you don't get lucky and keep getting BROKEN STRING or WHAMMY thrown at you, which during the fast parts are still no walk in the park.

I, like many, have gotten lucky (well, after a massa mount of tries), and the first battle power that I got was the whammy.  Then you use the whammy at the very beginning of Lou's green note section (which is quite soon after the battle power up) and you win simply because of how many notes he misses.  So if you want, just keep restarting until you get whammy attack on the first battle power up.
What this shows of course.. is yes, there's a lot of luck involved in the battle.

Ty for the tip... I've just been trying to survive his battle powers while simultaneously trying to get my own... most I've gotten is two, then failed around the point of the third... Anyway, ty...

For some reason, I never killed him. I just kept alive, and then it said "Finish him" and I did so.
