You don't need a latest computer to run ANY game on high everything :)

I say this because i see a lot of people rant on about how you need the latest everything blah blah

My computer which is a little over a year is,

CPU: AMD 3500+

GRAPHICS: 512MB 7600GS

MEMORY: 2GB

HDD: Seagate

Iv'e played all the latest games on max settings and found i had zero lag and ONLY when i pump up to the highest resolutions like 1600+ on everything maxed does my system start to slow down. Why does anyone want highest resolutions anyway? The game either looks exactly the same or the objects become so small it sucks.

This rig has played all the latest meanest games like Crysis, COD4, Bioshock etc etc no problems with every feature enabled.

So what i'm saying to people who maybe don't have much cash but want a nice computer.

Buy an AMD 3500, best cpu ever made :) , really fast chip. Buy a cheap Graphics card, the latest isn't required, not by a long shot. Buy the best, fastest and latest memory available and at a minimum get 2GB, i did and i think it's more then worth it and the best feature in my computer. Buy a Seagate hard drive, much better then other drives iv'e had in the past. Run defrag a lot and reinstall windows every 9 months or so to keep everything running like lightning. Note: You can reinstall windows without deleting your hard drive.

Overall, apart from memory and the hard drive, EVERYTHING else should be dirt cheap. Absolutely NO reason at all to buy the latest gear unless you are rich and are just buying it because you can. :)

CPU: AMD 3500+

GRAPHICS: 512MB 7600GS

MEMORY: 2GB

HDD: Seagate

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

GRAPHICS: 256 MB 7900GT

MEMORY: 2 GB DDR2 400 (I think 400 is the right number....)

HDD: Seagate (I think)

RESOLUTION: 1240x1080 max

I downloaded Bioshock from Steam and I always get lag, no matter the settings.

This rig has played all the latest meanest games like Crysis, COD4, Bioshock etc etc no problems with every feature enabled.

:?

Run defrag a lot and reinstall windows every 9 months or so to keep everything running like lightning. Note: You can reinstall windows without deleting your hard drive.

The drive I have my Steam game files on was defragged not long ago. I misplaced (i.e. lost) my product key for XP, so I seem to be in a bind there.

You think the lag on Bioshock would be mostly because of my video card's memory?

Any way I might be able to solve my Windows XP problem? It's SP2, Version 2002.

Dammit, that graphics card was the best I could get when I bought it! :(

Changing resolution doesn't make everything smaller, all it does is (put simply enough) smoothen out the jagged lines in the image by having more pixels to render the image.

and BTW, you won't have been able to run Crysis on High with a 7600.

I dunno what you guys are doing but my comp runs everything.

DFI motherboard i paid extra for, maybe thats it?

I also don't run anything in the background, like antivirus crap etc... In fact the only significant thing i run at startup is Daemon Tools but thats a given.

Seriously though, i haven't lied, my specs run everything maxed with any game iv'e ever tried until i put the resolution to high and then it'll only start to slow down with games like Bioshock. Oh well, i dunno....Maybe you guys bought faulty parts :)

Such a stupid thread full of lies. I have: AMD Athlon 3800+ DUAL CORE Corsair 2GB 800mhz Geforce 7600GT and i'm running everything on LOWEST setting(on Vista).....and I still get lag during fights. Either you're a horrible liar who has nothing better to do than to post such crap on these forums OR you're parents bought you an Extreme Gaming PC and told you its a crappy low-end (idk why they'd do this though).

You wouldn't be running Crysis on max on a 7600.

What kind of res do you use normally?

I agree with everyone else, running Crysis on high with your system is simply not possible, I don't care how well you maintain it. You're either BS'ing us, or you're the type who can play games at 10-15 average FPS and put up with it just fine, and doesn't realize that your framerate is hardly considered acceptable by almost everyone else (there are people like this out there).
