I would buy it if the content interested me. Why is there no option in your poll for a yes answer ? Nevermind you fixed it.

It all depends on what kind of expansion it is. For example; i would never buy an expansion that only adds new weapons.

If it's a good expansion i'd wait for a price drop

No, it wouldn't. Expansions are never sold for $50. Therefore, I'm going to play pretend and make it more realistic. It costs $30. Yes, I'd buy it.

If it were $50, absolutely not. There's no such thing as an expansion worth that much. Wouldn't buy it for $40, either. So I'd end up waiting many months for it to go down to $30.

Anyway, they would not and will not make an expansion for L4D because it would only hurt things. It is a game that you're supposed to play with your friends. Creating an expansion would mean you may not be able to play it with any of your friends because they all don't have it, or it might mean one friend can't play all the same content as the others because all of them have the expansion except him. It would undermine the ease of getting together with any and all of your buddies and playing whatever, you being able to join their game regardless of what point they're at, and vice versa. L4D is best as a game with free updates, as it should and will be. We've got 60% of the content so far, and Valve will give us the other 40% for free over the months, 'cause that's how Valve do.

For the $50 price tag, added content should be free.

Yeah I would, but only if it had the same amount of content (or more) than the original. The price is a b!tch and the content is somewhat lacking. I love the game, but slash that, and it is a waaaaaay better (and more realistic) value. They at least need to add more campains or create some way to change the maps around.

For the $50 price tag, added content should be free.

xipotec

This. Although the game is quite entertaining in 1-2 hour sessions, it's little more than a glorified HL2 mod for $50. For that price any additional content better be free.

The success of a retail L4D expansion pack would set a dangerous precedent for Valve in releasing a game almost completely devoid of content and making gamers pay for the rest of the game. I don't forsee this happening, but if it were to happen it would be up to all of us to make sure it resulted only in epic fail.

I don't think I would... Personally I don't see a reason to have an expansion for L4D. Why not just release all of this gradually over time? Or just use player made mods for all of the additional monsters/weapons/levels when the SDK is finally released?

The biggest thing I would expect from an expansion pack for L4D would at least be a Custom Character creation, instead of more characters. Even that could just be patched in over time though.

It depends on whether Valve keeps its promise of adding more content for free down the road. L4D was overpriced, being the short game it is. I won't be fooled twice.

valve are going to add new scenarios and weapons for free, it's part of why I bought the game, TF2, CS:S shows me that you pay for product A, you get support for years along with new content. I expect to see another scenario early next year for free. Perhaps new weapons. I don't think we will see an expansion on PC for some time. If there was one I'd want probably 4 campaigns, a few new characters a few new boss zombies etc. In short the $50 I paid for L4D in my mind includes about an expansion pack or 2 worth of material already. Esp considering I paid less for TF2 and got a lot more cool stuff after that.

Oh noes!!!! I've raised the ire of an Aussie!!!!! Run Frodo!!!! Wait, that's New Zealand.... eh, close enough.

Honestly, I got bored of the game after a few hours of play time. Sometimes I'll get on as a zombie and play a little havoc, but other than that, it's not a big thing to me.

they sold that game like candy.
everyone rushed and bought it.

people wanted to have something different.
developers come up with rushing zombie armies.
people excited. and bought it like mad.

now they will create an expoansion (which should be a content of the original game)
they will price it like $39.99
every one will rush and buy again...

they laughed us before... and they will laugh again.

yea, that's anice game. but it's value is not more than $29.99 (tax included)
and for the expansion (because it's not standalone) price should be max $19.99 (with tax)

[exansion game should contain full new maps and several weapon and zombies and bosses + new multiplayer modes]

this is how it should be... but the reality will not be like that.

It would depend on the price, of course. If they sold it dirt cheap, like $10, then maybe. Anything above that then it would have to at least double the content of the original, which I doubt it will. I would think the modding community could do just as good, or better job, giving us more content and for free.
