windows 7 still reading my 4gb of ram as 3gb....help pls...

i have a macbook pro and i run bootcamp to run windows 7 ulimate...my "macside" reads the two 2 GB sticks as 4GB of RAM....but on my windows side it reads it as 3 GB of RAM....i thought windows 7 was suppose to read the full amount?

You need 64Bit Win7 to be able to use 4GB.

Not neccesarily XP. Can be 64Bit Vista or Win7 as well.

Yeah 64-bit XP will read more than 4 GB. However, you should have the discs for both versions on Windows 7 Ultimate included in your box.

i am but i am runnig 32 bit windows 7 because i have to...atleast i think i have to...remember though i am running it through bootcamp on a macbook

Windows 7 64-bit performs better than its 32-bit counterpart. I dont understand the problem.

Nearly ALL computers made from the past 7-8 years have 64-bit capable CPUs in them ready to run 64-bit OSes. What CPU does your Macbook pro run on? Unless Bootcamp itself doesn't allow 64bit Windows installations, it should work (as far as I know).

That CPU is 64-Bit capable. Grab your Windows 7 64-bit CD and install. And to answer your other question, use a USB stick to backup the files and programs you want to keep.

where can i go my computer to look at all my specs?

i am more familiar with mac os and windows xp I just recently upgraded to windows 7 so bare with me guys...and i have never used windows vista b4...

Sadly no. Going from 32 to 64-bit requires a completely fresh new install. You could have gone from XP to Windows 7 with an inplace upgrade if its 32 to 32 bit. Even going Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit requires a brand new install.
