It can run left4dead 2 decently I guess. It gets to be a little choppy when I have waves of zombies coming at me, though.

Specs:

Proccessor: Intel Quad Core 2.33

RAM: 4GB

HD: 500g free of 700g

Video Card: Nvidia Geforce G100

I'm aware that, for the most part my specs are pretty good. I know my video card is CRAP. Will I be able to run doom 3? (And on a side note - how much should I expect for a decent video card?)

G100 should be able to do high settings as long as you have plenty of system RAM since that's what your computer is going to use as VRAM. As far as getting a dedicated graphics card goes, you don't need it for Doom 3, though for $50 you could really improve what you got by many multitudes.

Okay, good to know I won't be needing it for doom 3. Thanks for the info :)

But.. assuming it's for other games. As I said before, when I run L4D 2 it's prety choppy. Based on my specs, it's my video card.. right?

i think i speak for everyone when i say the following.."ditch that gpu STAT!"

but yeah its holding you back every step of the way.. heck im pretty sure most anything could walk all over it.. if i may recommend a few gpu's by preformance (least to best) around the 100 dollar mark:

zotac geforce 9800gt ($90)

sapphire hd 5670 ($90)

XFX hd 4770($105)

powercolor hd 4850 ($100)

elitegroup gts 250 ($110)

of the five the gts 250 is the most expensive and preforms the best but any of these will bite the bojangles of most games.. crysis on high.. source games would be schooled (left 4 dead 2.. not a problem for any of these cards). however given that this is probably a prebuilt id probably bank on the hd 5670 or 4770 to keep you away from further necissary upgrades.

WOW. thanks for that! Very useful information! :)

So, the 5670 or the 4770 wouldn't have any problems playing high end games such as crysis either, right? And if it were to be out of those two, which would you personally choose? I don't want my video card to out - perform everything else.. so like you suggested, anything over that would probably just be overkill.. right?

i would get the 4850abusedbunny

yeah but given that this pc reeks of generic psu.. odds are at best its either a decent 350 watts or a mediocre 400 watts.. i will NEVER but a 4850 on 400 watts of power with a bad rail so long as i draw breath. i recommended it in the evnt im wrong and someone wants to find out for me :P i dont step on landmines.. thats what cannon fodder is for :P
