PC games don't have area restrictions. I buy my PC games from China.

PC games don't have region codes, so there's no reason why is shouldn't work. Just make sure it's got an English install option.

Since you are in India now, I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem.

However, you can have a problem if you are going to buy it with an Australian credit card. I ran into this hassle last night- I live in China but am from the US. I tried to use my US card to buy the games- it constantly rejected me. I had to instruct my family over skype how to get Steam and send me the game as a "gift" so I could buy the games.

Well yeah - that's how governments restrict stores and businesses from international selling. You'd have to use PayPal or something of the likes, that allows international transfer of funds.

Just like to point out that valve banned copies of the Orange Box bought in Asia (though I'm nt sure which parts of Asia) from being activated in non Asian countries (which is checked depending on your IP address through Steam.)

They did this to stop cheap importing of the game.

I think i got a NWN expansion fro Thailand or something like that. I thought it was funny that it was english only (as far as i could tell) because it is a text game not a vo game.
