Sins isn't THAT complex. It's pretty easy to figure everything out.
Anyway, I recommend Medieval 2: Total War.
Don't get sins of a solar empire(I heard it is very complex)You should get world in conflict, it's extremely easy to pick up and has fantsatic online play.napp123
I would say try the demos for the games you are interested in trying out and see how you like them.Doom_HellKnight
i play
civ4,company of heroes,worlf of conflict
many others ths r my fav
also try age of empire 3 and its expansions pretty easy to pick up
Company of Heroes covers all of your above requirements except kinda easy to pick up and play. It looks great, has awesome single player, is relatively new and is real time... but it is quite complicated compared with most RTS games out there.
I'd recommend you mostly look at Company of Heroes, but you should just check out demos - they all or mostly all have them. See what you think yourself.

Dawn of War is excellent;I'm playing Winter Assault (the exp) and its also great. I was going to recommend Age of Mythology, but since you didn't care for it,how about BFME II or an oldie Ground Contol II?Ken1a

The only problem with WIC online is: if you don't know what your doing the host can boot you during the game so try and play with friends that you know.

And also ya is company of heroes similar to Age of Mythology i mean the gameplay..k_ozz

besides both of them being RTS's, they are nothing alike.

DO NOT BUY WiC! It is not a RTS it has no stratgey and no gameplay at all. The moment you get online you are dead and you never get teh nuke! The SP is like shot, i mean 5hrs long. You need a high-end PC, i mean HIGH-end!!! It is just plain boring, well the destruction never gets old. (O ya you never get that much destruction because it is short)

I have played every game mentioned. If you wont be playing multi-player. Medieval Total War 2 is with out a doubt the best game! Total War is on another level compared to most these games imo. Sins and Coh are good too. But Total War ROCKS!!!!
So i guess i Company of heroes, Dawn of War and C&C are my best bet.. Wanted to know the amount time spent in each of these.. And also is the single player in WIC any good??k_ozz
WIC=single player sucks and the mp doesnt offer much strategy imo
Dawn of War=dated(wait for DoW2)
C&C=average rts plus EA=EVIL
COH=Instant Classic ..every rts fan must play this. Introduces mechanics never seen before in a rts. Ground Breaking!
Medivial:Total War 2 and Sins offer the best single player experience imo (giving Total War 2 the edge) Becuase they incorporate alot of strategy into the gameplay with the world (universe) to conquer. They feel epic!
I'm gonna name a strategy game that by today is still my favorite strategy... and hasn't been mentioned yet. HOMEWORLD (plus expansion) and Homeworld 2. That game forver changed the RTS genre and if your thinking of playing an RTS game why not the one that revolutionized it. The only problem is that's kind of hard to find in stores but I'm pretty sure amazon.com has it.
If you can't find that than I suggest Dawn of war and/or any Total war game.
Company of Hereoes. Amazing game, and very little focus on resource gathering. Just control points and you get resources automatically every few seconds..I belive its the easiest transition from FPS/3rd Person to RTS. Highly Recommended
NOTE: Language in that game is very salty and people do get multilated before your eyes. Caution!

lots of intese action and min focus on resource gathering.. And i don mind even if the game is old.. But the graphics has to be good.. Thanx in advance..k_ozz
Sounds like world in conflict should come next. Resources are gathered automatically for you, it has the most intense action of any RTS, but you can only control a few units at once. Sins of a solar empire is the better game, imo, but it's a very deep and complex RTS (if you're new to strategy games) with not as much action. And C&C3 is a joke.
so now you want resource gathering? Well starcraft 2 will have that but its not out yet. I really recommend Supreme Commander-PS360-

Because it sucks, I hated it and got bored of it like two days after I wasted money on it. It's an extremely basic RTS that's even more shallow than generals, the previous C&C.MTBare

No, it's just a boring RTS when compared to all the others that have been released. Just because it's shallow doesn't make it simple/easy. WiC would be perfect for you imho.

After playing COH, C&C is a joke. You should try Tota War 2 you get resources by capturing new territoires on the game map and then upgrading your cities and military. No resource gathering. Same with Sins you capture new planets and then upgrade them. They are not overly complicated unless your a moron.
I STRONGLY recommend C&C3. One of the most underrated games ever, sadly.
I've only played the demo to World in Conflict so far, and it's pretty good. I'd also recommend Universe at War and AOE3.
I haven't played COH or Sins yet, but I have heard good things about them.
