Which PC is better?

Which computer is better for under $1,000, and what performance do you think I can get out of each one. Like frames per second at 1080p. I already have the rest of the parts I need so those are not included.

the intel will give better performance based on hose parts, both should be fine for 60fps 1080p for now.

I'm not that familiar with Nvidia cards so im not sure about the 760, but the r9 270 is basically a factory overclocked 7870, a slightly better GPU if you go AMD id recommend.

At least an r9 280x or possibly an r9 290

You might not have enough wattage on the i7, but other than that the i7 is superior. AMD CPUs can barely touch high end i5's let alone i7's. Plus it has more memory and an arguably better GPU. I'm not a fan of AMD GPU driver support recently. Go with the first one but you might need to upgrade the PSU.

Go with the i7 but I is there a big price difference if you go with the 770 for the GPU?

Go with Intel's system. Its superior to everything.

Better CPU, GPU and more RAM. thehig1: The GTX760 is 12% faster than R9 270X.

Not to mention that I really wouldn't take FX9370 with an air cooler (which might do the job) when AMD recommends water cooling.

Also the i7 system will use much less power...

(FX-9370 will make the corsair 600w to suffer at full load of GPU and CPU...)

Anything I should bump up a little like the graphics card or motherboard? I have the asus vg248qe which can use lightboost technology at 100 and 120 fps. Anyway I can reach at least 100fps with that graphics card at 720p or 1080p?

100FPS is kinda difficult but this depends on how much details you put in a game. Thats for 1080p

Now for 720p I don't think that reaching 100FPS will be a problem...

Generally depends on the game and what graphical settings you are using.

@Coseniath: I mainly play first person shooters. Every once in awhile il buy a different kind of game. Ok let's say Battlefield 4 on Ultra. Would I be able to run that smoothly at 100fps if I had it set to 720p or 1080p or do I need to bump up my graphics card. If I do bump up my graphics card anything I can bump down to make it still under $1,000 and run really good?

Will the MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card be able to reach 100fps at 1080p it costs $309 compared to the 760 I have up there which costs $250. For most first person shooters.

As you can see Battlefield 4 is very heavy at Ultra with 4xAA. Even $400-$500 GPUs barely pass 60FPS. You need a lot of GPU power to reach 1080p120fps with Ultra (maybe next generation will do it with a single GPU...).

At 720p you could expect near double performance in FPS.

@Coseniath: alright thank you that helps a lot. In your opinion which would play better on a 24" monitor. 1080p at 60fps, or 720p at 100 or 120fps? It's a 24" monitor so I figure 720p n 1080p won't look much different.

Well since I recently have an experience with 720p in a 22" monitor, I can say go with 1080p. In 720p pixels are more visible and that annoys me a lot. But I am usually 30-50cm away from the screen. If you are like 1-2m away from the 24" screen, then I think you will have no problem with 720p.

Actually you can try it also yourself when you will have the PC and you can see what's better in your eyes :).

Ya I sit only like a foot or 2 away from the screen so I can see what you mean by seeing the pixels. Hopefully, I can just run it at 900p at 100fps so I can use the lightboost feature on my monitor.

@Coseniath: like assumed it was a little faster just didn't know for sure.

I'm fed up with amd driver support like a previous poster said.

For example the new amd drivers for my 7850 make watch dogs playable.

However football manager now screen tears when ever I move the mouse.

So I have to roll my driver back to play football manager and update again to play watch dogs.

I think I'm going to get an nvidia gpu soon, I can get a gtx 770 4gb fairly cheap been reading up on that it looks a good card

That's why you don't buy a 144Hz screen when you can't afford performance of over 100fps.

About the comparison of the 2 PCs, the 1st one hands down, better GPU, better CPU, standart RAM capacity of 8Gb.

You enjoy 144hz at anything above 60fps. Even at 60fps, the vg248qe is much more responsive than any 60hz display at that framerate.

Maybe you can reuse the 2x4GB Memory IF they are compatible so you can have a total of 16GB RAM. Otherwise there is nothing else...

thehig1: well GTX 760 is like 7950 boost while R9 270X is like 7870...Btw this thing with the driver switch in order to play different games is horrible. It reminds me 3dfx days :P.

@Coseniath: I know I'm finding it faster to unplug my gpu when I boot intending to play football manager and use my on board graphics for it.

Then put gpu back in when I'm going to play a.graphically demanding game.
