What's the best online RPG game that isn't WOW?

I used to play everquest, but the problem is that the number of players have really dropped during past few years.

ya Guild Wars still has a pretty big community, also Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is wicked fun.

You should give Aion:Tower Of Eternity a try when it comes out in september. It has a great combat system and other cool stuff.

you should try WoW or Lotro

every other online rpg sucks. they all fail hard.

the above mentioned are all well rated...but i think i want something a bit different than those (since i used to play wow for about 4 years- original and TBC)

The ones that i plan to try out are Champions online (not sure if you would like that one since it isn't anything like those that other mentioned) and SW: The Old Republic....which isn't coming out so soon so can't say that it would be a good replacement.

Others just don't appeal to me.

Aion. Hands down. JUST PLAY AION.

Aion, definately Aion... comes out in September but the beta is already a top-notch game

Guild Wars isn't an MMO, even the developers were very up-front about that

I'd recommend Warhammer for pvp, Guildwars for a mix of pve and pvp,or Lord of the Rings online for pve.
