You can play CSS on a 4 year old PC easly. Bt if your wanting to play some newer games your going to either need to build your own PC or buy a 800 dollar one from dell,HP,ETC..ETC

just about any computer will run counter strike.

it's more about the mouse in your case.

That's a good general recommendation for a new build, but those hardware specs are really beyond overkill for the game. Any semi-decent computer made in the last 4-5 years will run CS Source beautifully. I could run it more or less maxed out at 1280x1024 on my old Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with an X800Pro. It even ran fine back when I had a Radeon 9700 Pro.

My old rig was a AMD3500+, ATI X300(integrated POS), 1.5GB of ram, and I ran it at a steady 30FPS with all settings on high. Including AA and AF, however I couldnt turn on HDR, I would only get like 6 FPS.

El Cheapo AMD Dual Core X2 4000+ or even a X2 5000+ BE
1GB DDR2 667 RAM (2GB if possible)
HD 2600Pro/XT or 8600GT.

More than enough for both CS 1.6 and Source.
