Is it pre-built or are you building it yourself? If you're building it yourself, get a Radeon 4850 instead of the 9800GTX.

It seems like that is pre-built.

If you built it yourself you could easy beef up the specs a bit for around the same price.

well yes its prebuilt and no i don't want to build it

i have been upgrading my old computers for years and i am now tired of it

i don't want any more hassle, and most importantly i want warranty lol

also i have an option to choose the 4850

however i looked at some benchmarks and at low resolution the 9800GTX+ is actually ahead in fps, and it also runs slightly cooler and requires less power

its also more stable because the 4850 often overheats and has certain other problems

why wouldnt' you wanna build a pc... it's not anymore of a hassel than dealing with pre-built companies with their "awesome" tech support people that don't understand how to speak english properly. I'm sorry, but if you are dealing with english speaking customers you have to be understandable. Plus I'd go with something bigger than a 160gb HDD, that's tiny for game now-a-days.

hmm i could upgrade to 250

i honestly wont need it though

my 80 gig hard drive isn't even filled up

this company is not a large company like dell,

in fact i live 12 miles from them

now lets just put it this way, my dad is paying for this computer, and he will not want me to build it, i had trouble convincing him that i don't need to get a computer from a big brand like HP or Dell

now me building or prebuilt aside, i'm asking what you think of my actual specs

That's way overpriced. This may be a little weaker, but it has much better Price/Performance Ratio:

Crysis Warhead PC-Opitmized By Nvidia and Crytek

Very reliable PC, also available with warranty.

this is a rig i am looking into for $1111

Dual-Core Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 1333FSB 6MB Cache

Great CPU specially if you want to overclock cause you can get lots of performance out of it.
Intel® DP35DP - ATX - Intel® P35 Express Chipset

Yeah this is alright I guess, some upgrade value in it.

2 x1GB PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2

That should be fine for now but down the track upgrade to 4GB of the same ram.

Antec NSK4480 - ATX Mid Tower - 380 Watt PS - Black - Silent Design
MSI TurboStream® 600W Power Supply
160GB SATA 7200RPM - 3.5" - Seagate Barracuda® 7200.10
Samsung 22x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer (SATA)
MSI nVidia GeForce 9800GTX Plus OC 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 (2xDVI)

Personally I'd change it for a 4850 or 4870 from ATI but that card will definitely get the job done.
No RAID - Individual Drive(s)
SATA Power Connector - 6" - 4-pin to 15-pin
Microsoft Value Pack 3.0 Keyboard and Mouse (USB)

If your planning on extensive gaming then look at one of the gaming keyboards and mouses from companies like logitech, Razer, Steelseries, etc because microsoft stuff gets worn pretty easy.

Cyber Acoustics 2pc Speaker System
Microsoft Windows XP Home with SP3 (32-bit)
System Assembly and Testing (Desktop)
System Packaging

Extended Three Year Warranty Advanced Replacement

suggestions?

Lemonio

I presume from this that you already have a monitor for it, so otherwise you should be fine its a nice prebuilt for 1k.

the crysis warhead pc looks intresting but a little weak

the processor isn't amazing and power supply leaves no room for upgrades

i'll look into it though

i could get a 9800GT and such a processor at this site for probably a similar amount of money though

thanks for the comments

reason i was thinking of 9800GTx+ as opposed to 4850 is i think the GTX+ is more stable and cool and also at lower resolutions which i will be playing at, it actually runs better

although i've actually been thinking about just going with a 9800GT

also about ram i'm curious

can i get 3gb of ram?

because if i understand correctly winxp cannot use more than a total of 4tb of ram and with graphics card and other stuff i have about 3 gigs of ram left over

if i got 3 gigs of ram would it be one 2gb and 1 1gb stick or can i get 3 1gb sticks?

You've got 4 slots for ram on that mobo so you should be fine getting 3gb and throwing another 1gb in later.

Your mobo can't go over 800mhz DDR2 though and you can only support 8GB max with it.

It would depend on how the person building it makes it, most would do a 2GB+1GB but some do do 1+1+1GB to save money.

The ram count doesn't include videocard ram mate, on xp32bit it will only read (display you as having) to 4gb even if you have more then 4gb of ram but the xp64bit can display the count amount over that 4gb.

well i will probably have 32 bit

also so would you reccomend 1 1 1 or 2 1 or even 2 2

i'm also thinking about possibly going down to the 9800GT

i'm probably gonna be playing at 1440 by 990 or 1280 by 1024 so i could probably do fine with a 9800GT

I like the rig, expect for two things. For one, ditch the dual core cpu, and get a quad core. the q6600 wil run all over that e8400, and it will last longer. (IF you do go for the e8400,get a good cpu fan for it if you plan on overclocking). As for the hard drive, 160gb isway too small, 250gb or better.

For 3GB I'd prefer 2+1, for 4GB I'd Do 2+2.

A better video card is never a bad thing in the long run, but at those resolutions you'll do fine with either, personally i'd just stick with the 9800gtx.

The case is fine. Never had any problems with an Antec case, but I so think the Sonata III looks f'ugly. If you want a very similar case, but a bit different look, check out the Thermaltake M9 series.
