I think it's OK but I've ran into some problems before making me not like it as much as I could.

Love it.

I just reformatted my hardrive and reinstalled windows last week. I have about 8 games on steam, and to reinstall them I simply told steam to reinstall my games, then I went out for lunch and took the kids for a walk. When I got back, everything was done. So easy :)

My other non-steam games, however, I had to get all the CD's, all the cd keys, and reinstall them one at a time manually. Pain in the arse.

I wish all games had the *option* of being downloaded on steam.

Steam is great! It was bad back in ~2004 but it has changed a lot know and is a great platform to buy games. If I ever do encounter a problem on steam I usually just restart steam and everything is fine again, seems a lot of people dont ever think to do this.

Anytime I've had a problem with it thats the first thing I do and it's alright until I finish doing whatever on it.

I love Steam. It is one of the greatest things to ever happen to gaming. I've never had a problem and even if I did, I still would probably like it as much as I do now because they are great at fixing any problems you might have... if you are willing to seek an answer/solution.

I just reinstalled it so I can play 1.6... I must say, it isn't that bad anymore. Besides the ads, I really don't mind it. They've won me over.

Steam is fantastic. I used to have trouble with it (when it was brand new), but now that Valve has the kinks out, I have a difficult time imagining having to play without it. I love the friends system, I love that all of each game's files are in their own single folder within steamapps (making them easily transferrable), and I love that I can install Steam anywhere on any computer and have access to my games. On top of all that, Steam has effectively crushed software piracy. It's genius, and as others have said, I wish I could register all my games with Steam and let them install the way native Steam games install.

For the majority of the time, I had good experiences with it. So far I really like it because they offer constant discounts on games, the Friends list interface actually works now, the idea of how your username stores all your game accounts. So its great when I go to a friends/random house and play Geometry Wars or Audio Surf without having to worry about cds or serials.

I almost never actualy buy my games off steam, although I do like the ease to talk in game and to organise all of them into one spot to save desktop space. I dislike more than 5-7 icons on my desktop.

I like Steam, haven't had much problems with it and I actually prefer to buy games over Steam rather than drive to the store and buy a game.

I find it quite fun. It seems like a PC version of Xbox Live. The features like chatting in game and all that are GREAT. The auto patching is very convinient also. I think the only thing a actual copy of a game has over Steam games is the fact that you can hold the manual =p Those abode manuals get annoying FAST.

I used to hate it, but once I got Orange Box, I've had no problems. It's not perfect, since it uses a good amount of RAM, but it's dec.

I really like steam, there arn't that many good games on it that I don't already have, but I got CoH and call of duty 2 from it (I lost my other CoD2 which I hadn't beaten) I am thinking about getting the 3 and 4 expansions for DOW (4 isn't out yet), but I don't have too much money now and I havn't beat DOW yet.

I really love steam, but I hate how vista will not put steam games (other than ep1 ?1?) into the games window with their separate icons. Oh well, I just launch the games with steam anyway.

Questions about Steam: 1. If I buy Crysis can I add the game to my Games list on Steam?? 2. If Quake III Arena is on Steam, will Steam let me launch the game with mods and stuff or only original version??? 3. Everyone knows that Steam has games like CoD4 available to digitally buy. I'm wondering, if I bought the DVD version of CoD4, am I able to DOWNLOAD the game into any computer from now on just like the Valve games???

I like it as a program for organizing games and such, but I always run into problems with the offline mode. My internets connection isn't exactly fan-freaking-tastic out here in the dead center of the snow desert known as Alaska, and any time my interet is down, steam is just the biggest pain ever. I don't know if anyone runs into this or if there's just something wrong with mine, but steam always insists on connecting to the steam network to open offline mode. Isn't that the point of offline mode, to not have to connect? I'll always click "start in offline mode", and then it will sit there for a few seconds, and tell me that it had an error connecting to the steam network, and that I should check my internet connection. Game Over.

Steam is an excellent service.

The very few negatives are outweighed greatly by the numerous positives.

1. You can add a shortcut to the game, but it won't get tied to your account or anything.

2. I'm not too sure

3. And I think that only works for valve games (tieing them to your steam account) otherwise you would need to buy the Game actually off steam, the CD-Key given in the boxed version won't work in steam.

I personally love steam, although I've got an always on internet connection, so depending on your internet, I can understand why some people would have a problem with steam.

Yes Seam is very good. I like the fact that I don't need a CD to play a game and I can play games I have purchaced on any PC with Steam. I wish I could have all my games on Steam, having to put the CD in every time is a pain when all I need to do in Stem is click on the game I wan to play, so much simpler! What I don't like about it is it takes 18 to load up on my pc.

Steam is great. It's better to have a Steam account than to have a ton of CD's and DVD's.

Well I don't know why you couldn't defrag your Steam games (try reinstalling Steam?), but it's pretty easy to just change the settings so you don't get any popups, so I'm guessing you haven't tried *too* terribly hard to rectify either situation.
