I'd definetely say starcraft is an exceptional game and you should have it...I didn't play starcraft once before 3 months ago and it came out 10 years ago so it still has some good value
basically, cpu, ram, and graphics card are the 3 things to look at. there are other factors to consider (like speed of hard drive), but the most important are the 3 i mentioned above, and of the 3 the graphics card is the most important. it's good to have a balance. of the 4 laptops you listed, i'd imagine the 4th to be the best, but it's still not a good gaming laptop. you'll probably have to shell out at least $1000 to get a decent gaming laptop. anything that has a dual core cpu, m8600 graphics card, and 1gb ram (2gb ram if you're using vista) should be decent for gaming purposes.
edit: woah, you totally changed the topic. is this for your laptop or a desktop? i heartily recommend no one lives forever 1 & 2 for a laptop. great games.
Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters. It runs on just about anything nowadays, it's free, and it's one of the greatest games of all time, so why not add it to your PC game library? Deus Ex, System Shock 2, and the two Fallout titles also get heavy recommendations from me. Also, if you don't mind learning how to use DOSBox, you could try to get a copy of Magic Carpet 2 and play it.
Best package? OJBOX. Not 'nuff money? Half-Life: Platinum Pack. Other worthy games? Counter-Strike (which you get with the HL: Platinum Pack), StarCraft, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. There are also newer games like Assassin's Creed Director's Cut and Gears of War which are pretty good ports.
Well if you have a good rig with decent Processors, RAM, and at least a decent video card you should check out Supreme Commander, Crysis, and Bioshock.
