Sometimes when I restart comp or boot up the next day I get a bunch of hassle. It'll say like disk read error after the post and say press alt+ctrl+del to restart (which does absolutely nothing to help it).

Then after that it'll give some random error with the status number 0xc000e9.

Then the error list will be among these. windows/system32/config/system or \boot\hcd or /winload.exe.

It says the files are missing or corrupt and the computer won't turn on until I put in the windows disc and do the startup repair.

I believe it's problems with my vista registry for bootup but I can't do anything to fix it. I downloaded and used the registry booster 2 to try and fix problems (500+ were found) Then after that I had to do a checkdisk scan because my comp wouldn't boot up without it.

Please help me if you can or if you know any ideas about what may be causing this. It happens randomly and very frequently though.

Alrighty, I had a boot error and I have the TR version of your mobo. Apparently, the early version of the bios (if it is at all similar to mine) had data loss issues, and I was told I had to reformat completely and update my bios. The tech was wrong in my case though, and my issue was that the bios wasn't detecting my hdd properly... but maybe the issue does apply to you. Good-luck = )

So, supposedly the only thing I can do is reformat and start all over? That is going to suck since I don't have like any form of external hard drives to back up my um 40+gigs of stuff to.

Is there any way to like maybe just re-do a certain part of the bios without the reformat or am I screwed?

This is my only good computer though. My old one is like a 4year old + dell with 40gb hd and like 256mb of ram with a bunch of spyware and stuff from over the years. So I guess I will have to buy a portable hd or something to store this all to fix it.

Unless theres some sort of work around fix that can some how update the bios and what not and just sort of manage to do a repair install of vista like you could do in xp. But I already read that vista didn't support that.

Well, I had to keep hitting the "reset to defaults" in the bios... but it sounds like a different issue that you have... as if the data loss has occured already and can't be recovered. My board said FF on the little lcd, and gave a boot error... does your mobo have an error code lcd on it?

Try booting up into Vista Home for the first time to find that your two 300gb hard drives that are filled completely are no longer recognized and have to be formatted because Vista doesn't recognize dynamic disks...

That was SWEET!

Well like it just happens sometimes when the comp has been shutdown for the night and next day I boot up. It's like the registry files for bootup keep getting messed up. But then when I do a repair it doesn't really say it "fixes anything" it just sort of sends info about the error then works fine for the day, then another day it'll do the same stuff repeatedly.

Bootup problems alt ctrl del because of disk read errors, then windows files missing or corrupt.

There is a very good chance you have some bad memory.

Just to be absolutely sure...Take our your RAM and touch some of the contacts on each stick to a grounded source to discharge any stored static. It's extremely unlikely that static would be the problem but if I had to make a bet I would guess your RAM is poop :( Patriot isn't a bad company so they should work with you...hopefully....

It's either that or you're watching some kind of porn that is so messed up that it has to destroy the computers of anyone who watches it...

Just offering what help I can ;)

Well, the only reason I figure it's not bad ram is because it's not like it's been like this ever since I had the computer built. It's just sort of like occasionally the boot registry is messing up and acting all weird. I really am not too sure what it could be since it's not like 1 specific error all the time and it differs. But I guess if I have to I can just buy a portable hd backup all my stuff and try to reformat, but that won't be fun.
