If you're PC is always attacked by virus, better you do not allow your friend to insert the pendrive to yor PC.

3. If your pc always attacked by virus that some OS components are error, the best way is reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS. After reinstalling the OS, advice your family and friends to not to put any foreign pendrive on it. If you're sharing the other user's pendrive by borrowing the other user's pendrives, please don't do it because it may cause more problems to your PC.

4.Make sure that youscan the pendrive from time to time to scan the upcoming threats that hiding in your pendrives.

If you're started to hate these pendrives, just use CD instead, less risks of virus threat if you put the file that free from viruses. I'm always use CD rather than pendrives

Yeah, CD has a weakness that users can't add the data into the disc unless the PC have a CD/DVD burner. Yet, CD has a higher risk of damage compared to DVD if they didn't keep the disc properly especially with the top surface which is an aluminium coating that can easily tear off. DVD is much useful than CD but some DVD formats especially DVD+R/RW have a problem when performing a multisession.

Remember to turn off auto play too cause a pen drive can run code from it (that's how conficker spreads itself)

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to just disable autorun for the pen drive?

farrell2k
That will only stop it running code at launch it could still be infected

Not just pendrives that has an 'autorun.inf' file but my SD card could have the same thing. This file has an ability to create the virus that you didn't realize. I have one way to disabling the 'autorun.inf' functions, by using the Ninja Pendisk software. This software is not an antivirus but it can disable the 'autorun.inf' funtions and the hidden 'autorun.inf' file are converted into autorun.inf.old.txt which you can see the type of the infection that autorun.inf done. It's simple to use it, just open the ninja pendisk and the mini ninja pendisk icon appeared at the right taksbar and then insert the pendrive or memory cards (SD,MMC,MS,etc.) and then the software detects the autorun.inf and change it into autorun.inf.old.txt which you can see what types of infection that autorun.inf done. You can download it at www.softpedia.com.
