I'm planning on getting a new video card for my birthday and the one I'm thinking about picking up states that a minimum of 350 watts from the PSU is needed for non-SLI mode and a minimum of 400 watts is required for SLI mode.

My PC's current PSU is 250 watts so obviously I'm going to need a new power supply. My question is: as I am not planning on running the video card in SLI mode would a 350 watt be sufficient? Or would it be wise for me to purchase a 400 watt anyway?

go for 400Watts because with that it allows you to go into the high end video cards, but with 350 its more mid range e.. 8600GT...

If the 350 has good amperage on its voltage rails you'll be fine.

350 with good rails > 400 with weak rails
