So my Samsung 226BW has a VGA and DVI port on the back.

Currently I have the DVI port used.

I bought a HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3. The only slot I have open is the VGA port.

I was curious if a vga adapter would plug into the back of the monitor turning it into a DVI port I guess is what I am saying so that I can in my PS3 and can switch from my PS3 to PC easily

The cable for the PS3 is a HDMI to DVI Cable.

I was to convert the VGA port on the back on my monitor to a DVI port. Using the adapater but I am unsure if it will work or not.

Also have you considered plugging in your computer to the VGA port. There isn't always much difference.

Pick up a second DVI to HDMI adpater for your PC, and then get one of these. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882893008

A VGA adapter will work but it wont look good.
