Upgrade help on video card

Hi, need some hardware help please. Im wanna upgrade my son's computer for xmas. We have the same computer pretty much. we are running an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 6000+ at 3.02 GHz. We both have 2GB of RAM.....he might have 4GB of RAM, i cant remember since he doesnt live with me. Our video cards are GeForce 9600 GT 1GB. I am thinking about getting the GeForce GTS 250 1GB. Your thoughts on this please. Good or bad I would appreciate the help.

eh..i'd like to keep it under $150 but not more than $200. He's 13 and his favorite game is L4D2 and Team Fortress 2, but he might wanna start playing games like Metro 2033. He does have FEAR 2 and both STALKER games as well.

I personally think you should get a Asus GTX 460 768mb Its 149.99 but if you use the awesome newegg coupon code of EMCZZYR24 it will take 10% off any video card so the price will drop to 135.99.

The card also is free shipping, has a 20 dollar mail in rebate and has a Free Tom Clancy. Hawks 2 Game. At the end if everything works out, we are talking about ($115.99) total for a dx11 video card..

Now though, we possibly have several issues. What is your power supply? Do you have 2 6 pins? If you have deep power constraints then I would suggest you go with the 5770 or 6850 with the 6850 being the fastest single 6 pin out.

What is your son's PSU? You might have to upgrade that as well.

A 4890 is just as powerful as a 460. o_O
