Hello all....

my specs

cpu: duo2 @2.53

evga 9800gt 512gb

windows xp

500 gb hd

2gb corsair ram

I want to upgrade the cpu and motherboard down the road...but for now i'm going w/windows 7 64 and a videocard...now I found a evga 550ti for $119 on tiger direct!! I would love a 560ti but its out of my price range

I plan on going to a i5 3gz+ 4-6 gz of ramm also new mb

1: is it worth it?

2: will I see a major boost in games

Thanks

I personally would wait until you can afford at least a 560 Ti. What you could do, is build an AMD rig, instead of an Intel one.

It would be kind of pointless upgrading your GPU when your CPU will hold anything that is a 560gtx/6870 and above back. A 2.53ghz duo core is just going to struggle to deliver performance for high end gpus in games like BF3, SWTOR, Skyrim, etc. $119 for a 550gtx is not a big steal, nor is it "that" much of an upgrade over your 9800gt to blow your mind. I would honestly wait until you could afford a large upgrade or look for good deals on Kijiji/craigslist/ebay.
