unbelieveable!! GTX670 = 98% the performance of GTX680 and yet $100 cheaper.

GTX680 sure has made nvidia and Jen-Hsun Huang Rich, a supposedly $499 card now market the hell out itself by pretending "out of stock" from most e-retailers while they just wholesale them to smaller stores so everyone has to get them at $599-$699 and it still sell like mad. But performance speaks for itself, who can blame them?

Now beware, pre-order these babies before you became another victim of dirty marketing, "out of stock" after paper launch is almost certain, because GTX670 pulled another stun after and 8800GT and GTX470, barely 2%-4% slower than GTX680 and beats 7970 in most benches. Demand of this card will FAR surpass GTX680 with $400 mark for who knows how long.

No, amd is alright. They have to sell the 7970 for $400 and the 7950 for $350. This is what happens when u release something before your competitors, your competition already knows your hand.

If I were you I would hold off on the 680 and just get a 670 and SLI later on. The difference is absolutely tiny but the price isn't

If I do get them they need 4GB at least, heard someone said they cost 489 bucks.

Hmmm I see why you want 680s then if that's the price. Best to wait and see I guess. Seen as the 670s haven't had full reviews yet and comparisons. Can't really go wrong with either though

There are some more reviews out and it's pretty close to a 680 even at stock. Also 4GB 680s are 600 bucks each, lol, so SLI 4GB 670s seem to be the better deal.

Problem is they haven't yet, they're still comparatively overpriced compared to nvidia's offerings.

I'm sure it is, but that would be a total waste of a 4GB 670. When you SLI cards with 2 different memory sizes and the same chipset, you only get to use the amount of VRAM that the lesser card has. So you would be basically turning your 4GB 670 into a 2GB one.

Nothing in the GTX 600 series, true... But there are a couple of cards in the GTX 500 series that are priced to compete with the 7850 and 7870.

wouldn't the 4gb only be worth it over the normal 2gb if you were playing on mulch-displays or very high resolution ? or would you see improvement at any resolution with the 4gb over the 2gb ?

So in other words, there would be no performance upgrade. You're better off saving money by SLI-ing two 2gbs intead of investing in a 4gb with a 2gb.

Pretty much, plus there are games getting too close to 2GB now at even less than 1440p. Also having more VRAM decreases chances of worse performance when the cards are being pushed. 1440p is the res I want next so I need all the VRAM I can get.

To my knowledge gigabyte only has the one 670 card. Check Gigabytes website and see if they have any other version of the 670. The picure is of a windforce edition. Also, a lot of benchmarks show the gigabyte 670 a little below (almost on par with) the 680 reference.

e.g.http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=2236&pageID=11873

Also, are you planning on buying from that website? I've never heard of them. I don't like the way the description of the card is so unspecific (no model number?). Amazon had the same card for $400 today. They say they will be restocked on May 14. They had a lot of them today and only ran out in the evening. They are pretty well stocked when they get them. Amazon has great customer support too.

Oh yeah that too as well and AA also takes up more VRAM.
