Is there a way to transfer music files from one computer to another? Or do I need some kind of special cable? I'm connected to a router, so both computers are on the same network.

Over the LAN is the easiest, or burning to a CD/DVD, copying to a flash drive.

Okay, how would you do it over LAN? The biggest flash drive I have is like 256MBs so yeah..it'll take awhile if I do it that way.

Make sure both computers are in the same workgroup (not always required, by it does help), share the folder, and through network places, you should be able to see the folder.

If not, go to (XP) view workgroup computers, and hopefully you can see the other computer (sometimes it can be a bit finicky at times), and then by clicking on the computer you can see all the shared folders on that PC.

Then just copy and paste the required files or folders.

Hope that helps ;).
