Been using my Dell U2312HM since early 2012 and even though it still works perfectly i fund this BenQ XL2420Z 24-inch LED 144HZ 1ms Professional Gaming Monitor 40% off on amazon and was thinking if its worth it. Haven't even tried a monitor over 60Hz so this will be completely new to me. I pretty much don't even have a tv in my house anymore so it'll be used for everything but mainly gaming. Does this monitor in particular worth the $330 price tag?

Here's the link (can't link for some reason)

It's worth it if you play lots of FPS.
For less you could get a 1440P monitor.
QNIX QX2710 2560 X 1440 - $300
You can even overclock it to 96hz - 120hz.

Have one, more than worth it, even if you arent hitting 144fps, its simply just smoother

I don't want a 1440p monitor because achieving 100+ fps with a $350 gpu (will be getting a 380x or the 970 when it comes out/price drops for the 970) will be difficult if playing on High/Ultra settings. My current monitor has an e-IPS panel and the BenQ is just a TN one, won't this be kind of an image downgrade? And for the monitor itself, does anyone have it? Need to be sure its a good investment, haven't been with BenQ yet.

The problem i found when I first started gaming with 120hz and 144hz is that i missed my IPS.

So IPS ruined me and I could never go back to a TN panel, however you are in luck!! Acer is releasing a 144hz 1440p ISP monitor this month!

Yeah it really is, if you use your PC a lot then it is worth it. It's not an 'essential' upgrade, but it's a very good one.

and that would cost way more than im willing to spend i bet. About the ips being much better than tn panels... this is what im kind a scared of. I really don't want to buy this and be disappointed with the image quality compared to my Ultra Sharp i own.

@silversix_: Asus will be releasing an IPS 144hz monitor in the near future. Personally I don't have a problem with TN panel computers I still think they look really good straight on. I prefer 120hz-144hz over higher resolution. Just makes the game feel and look more smooth. Plus, you will have an advantage with the higher refresh rate. If I was you I would get the Asus VG248QE best monitor you can get for the price and is cheaper than those BenQ monitors under $300. Have owned 2 and never had a problem with them. Asus makes great monitors.

feels like the gsync monitors will take forever to have a price drop. no way im spending anywhere near close to $600 for a monitor.

Yea I would only say get one if you play a good amount of FPS (fast motion, etc)

Ive had a Asus 120hz TN for 3 years now. I know its def not the best PQ but motion is more important. If you're an avid FPS player, the difference is night and day.

Other than a 2nd monitor for streaming, I will probably only consider another 120/144 if its IPS.

Acer's 144hz IPS 1440p G-Sync monitor is listed at $799 so yeah it's expensive, but it's also the first of its kind as it uses real IPS tech with 144hz. To me, a monitor is a huge upgrade to people and the monitor seems to get shafted with most gamers, but I find it the most important piece to gaming since it can last forever. I still use a 5-6 year old Dell U27 IPS 1440p monitor as my primary monitor. It has actually retained it's full value this many years later.
