^Its expensive b.c is prebuilt marked up. Building it yourself saves $$. Depending on where you live, microcenter retail stores offer discounted cpu at $50-100 off and motherboard -$40+ off. Newegg is in socal so if you live around here you can just pick up the parts same day to save on shipping.

Buy a long hdmi from monoprice and hook up to the tv, $5-15 wires, anything more is likely a ripoff. x360 wired or x360 +wireless dongo works seamlessly with most games or ps3 controller works too with motionjoy.

I recommend having a monitor too, surfing and regular usage is painful on a tv sitting so far away so you want to have both and thats what I do personally.

Oh yeah if you have an edu account or other loophole means than you can get a windows copy for free or cheaper.

I built something similar about 3-4 months ago for that exact same purpose (on a 65" TV, but yeah).

i5 3750k, HD7950, 16gb Corsair RAM, Corsair 650W PSU, Asus P8z77v lx mobo, BD-ROM (using it as a media player as well), 2TB WD HDD and a Samsung 840 SSD and I payed over $1000 less than that cause I built it myself. While it's not ENITRELY up to the PC you're building's specs, I've been playing Crysis 3 on it all afternoon with everything on Very High at 1080p and have yet to see a hitch in the framerate. I'm not sure the incremental increase you're looking at is worth $1000.....
