Most recommendations added, thank you very much for all your contributions.

youre only including old games. why? you think morrowind is better than oblivion?just wonderin

The reason why is because many people are missing out on fantastic genre-defining games. Yes they may be old but that doesn't lessen the reason to play these games. Also the reason why Morrowind is on the list and Oblivion is not is quite simple, Oblivion came out only recently and is one of the most well-known games right now. It would be a sin to not put up its predecessor, Morrowind since it too was a fantastic game.

I would add the following:

* Civilization series
* Fallout series
* The Day of the Tentacle (I would rank this #2)
* Sam & Max
* Sanitarium (obscure game not many knew about)

And for nostaligia sake, how about another category:
Interactive Fiction:
* Zork series

[QUOTE="runforrestrun"] Commandos 2: Men of Courage

If that is included, you should also include Desperados 1, as it is better than Commandos 1+2 in any way (I didn't play 3+), unless you're one of them who's not tired of WW2 games and likes easy games [QUOTE="runforrestrun"] Fallout 2. Although I don't think it works with XP. Maybe someone knows about a fix, so let us know

I didn't have any problems playing that game under XP, but there is a fix for those with problems (for both Fallout games) at "No Mutants Allowed" IIRC

Incoming, Incredible Machine, Pandora's Box, Civilization Series, Fallout Series, Sanitarium and Desperados added. Thank you for your recommendations.

barbie's wild pony ride, fun for all ages.

Freedom Force, the super-hero strategy game that was good for it's customization and pretty solid single-player campaign.
#-38 Posted by Krall (16463 posts) -
This is really a great list and I'm suprised no one did this a long time ago :)

I also wanted to see a list of what everyone here thought was there top 5 games played. That would be neat to see.

Anyway, I'll find some way to either sticky this or put it into another sticky. We could use an updated master sticky list or some kind of a gateway to stickies list.
#-37 Posted by MythPro1 (2746 posts) -
Sounds good, thanks a bunch.

##Edit: Freedom Force Series added, thanks for your contribution.
#-36 Posted by PunishedOne (6045 posts) -
You're missing Ghost Recon 1. The game really shines when you have a different campaign.
#-35 Posted by _Merc_ (2291 posts) -

Can we add Diablo? 1 and 2. This game was legendary!!

That's the point... It is the "FORGOTTEN" games list. Obviously Diablo 2 isn't forgotten.
#-34 Posted by MythPro1 (2746 posts) -
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon added, thank you for your recommendation.
#-33 Posted by runforrestrun (29 posts) -
Rayman 2: The Great Escape

#-29 Posted by udder_cutter (25 posts) -
What about Starcraft? And Baldur's Gate 2 needs to be on there too.
#-28 Posted by madasameataxe (25 posts) -

Here's an excellent Adventure game I'm playing on XP ( with Windows '95 compatibility) now, its called Sanitarium.

Thats a game for Adventure fans (and others) to hunt down, excellent 1998 game and XP compatible.

Edit: Ok nm, I see someone already recommended it. I think its much better than the "I have to go to a walkthrough to figure out this illogical puzzle" The Longest Journey.

Steel Panthers 1&2

Fantasy General (some love it some hate it)

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate

#-24 Posted by VegetaMaelstrom (1083 posts) -
What about Duke Nukem 3D?
#-23 Posted by MythPro1 (2746 posts) -
Heavy Gear
C&C Series
Theme Hospital
Steel Panthers
Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate
Duke 3D

All added, thank you all for your contributions.

As for the reason why "Day of the Tentacle" and "Sam and Max" have not appeared on the list is because I am not entirely sure if these games will function properly under WinXP. If someone has tried and succeeded in doing so, then I will not hesitate to add it on.
#-22 Posted by namuseta (321 posts) -
atleast day of the tentacle works on dos box
#-21 Posted by Freakazoidian (199 posts) -

These games are by no means forgotten. I still remember them and play them.

I'm insanely harsh on RPG's.

Suikoden II is one of the least known but probably the best JRPG ever made.  It has the best plot, character design, and structure that I've seen in a game in a long time.

I'd love to add the series but I noticed they being only for PS2 or PS consoles while not for the PC.

More games added;

Prince of Persia Series
Splinter Cell Series
Codename 47 Series
Medal of Honor Series
Brothers in Arms Series

Thank you for your contributions.
Also, for some strange reason the complete word Hit Man is censored.
#-15 Posted by yesblueyes (25 posts) -

#-6 Posted by uzziahbear (125 posts) -
i think folks are missing the point. it's supposed to be a FORGOTTEN games list. plenty of great games listed, but no one has forgotten warcraft3, freedom fighters, riddick, all that.

so, to the list i'd like the add "the 7th guest". very memorable for me. and it certainly fits the "forgotten" criteria

#-5 Posted by runforrestrun (29 posts) -
The Neverhood!
Although I don't get it, why that Gamespot reviewer gave it a 4.9 ?!!! Maybe he didn't get it. ;-)
