The racing game GRID is 50% off this weekend on Steam costing 14.99 USD. Is it a pick-up or no?

Why the F*ing hell do these aw3s0m3 deals appear when I'm out of money? :ogigatrainerGod has a sense of humour.
Grid is a great game. It falls nicely between arcade and sim ( leaning mostly on arcade side). Is one of the best driving game i played and on top of that if you have a relatively good pc ( something in the lines of nvidia 9600gt or better) the game looks stunning at 1920x1080. Just make sure you will play it with a gamepad
Fantastic game, anyone who enjoys racing games to some degree should definitely pick it up.
EDIT - oh yes, but as with any racing game, you really ought to use a gamepad.
Oh damn... I loved the demo and I've been thinking about getting this game for a while. the price definitely makes it worth considering :)
I wish there were a Steam deal on a game that I don't already own... Maybe I'll just stop buying games and wait for Steam deals. 0.0
Good deal although I don't think I'll be picking this one up. I bought Burnout a while ago and thats all the racing I need :P
Sweet!! Even though I already have it. No question this has turned out to be one of my favorite racers and while not for hardcore simmers out there, the look and feel of this game is fantastic.
I was thinking about picking this game up...but heard it doesn't work with wheels/didn't have force feedback/or something along those lines...is that true?dnuggs40
Sorry man, I don't have an answer for you. Normally I would, but I've enjoyed playing enough with a gamepad that I haven't even brought out my wheel for this game. Apparently some have had trouble with the steering wheel I most often use (Logitech MOMO), but I'm not sure if that's isolated or widespread. Rumble is certainly there on the 360 gamepad fwiw.
So I went ahead and bought this on steam even though I owned it on the 360 for over a year now. I didn't release just how slow this game loaded on the 360 until firing this guy up on the PC. My load times are about 2-3 secs. Then when I actually got into a race, I thought it was a completely different game it looked so much better. This is actually a quality PC port.visceron
i agree a steering wheel would be even better ,the game is one of the toughest racing games aroundFantastic game, anyone who enjoys racing games to some degree should definitely pick it up.

Wow, I'm the only person here who detested Grid.
The rubber-band effect just killed this game - and in single player there was no way to turn it off. I can't stand it when I'm way ahead of the pack, and then suddenly, near one of the last turns, the pack magically appears right behind me, as though out of thin air. Or vice versa, if I'm way behind, I don't want the A.I. cars to be pulled back. It's cheap.
Also, you're not driving real cars in this game. You're driving hover-cars. I never felt like my cars had wheels. It's not as bad as Dirt was, but it's nowhere close to the handling of the cars in the GT games by Simbin. Even GTA 4's cars felt like they had wheels.
Grid just wasn't my cup of tea at all. That said, the price isn't too bad here, so I wouldn't exactly say it's a bad deal. But in the end, this was my worst purchase from last year. I bought the 360 version on day one.
If you still have the game you should try it once more and just use the brakes more often than a usual racing gameWow, I'm the only person here who detested Grid.

Hmm.. I disagree completely, but this was just from demo experience. I like the rubber band effect because it means you still have a chance if you screw up, and you're not fighting necessarily for the last place spot, and keeps it intense if you're way ahead of the pack. And this was the ONLY game I played where the cars have felt like they had some real weight to them, and felt like.. well... cars. Please Log In to post.
