Alright, I don't think it's necessary for this to be in the sticky thread because I came across an article that warns about Starcraft 2 causing to overheat people's graphics cards and Blizzard has just recently found out about it and they were able to tell us how to temporarily fix it through the variable.ini.

Here is the article but I'll summarize basically what it says.

http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft2/news/12626-overheating-bug-confirmed-how-to-fix-it

"For a temporary workaround, go to your Documents/StarCraft II/Variables.txt and set frameratecapglue to 30 and frameratecap to 60.

Add these lines to Variable.txt:
frameratecapglue=30
frameratecap=60

Other known issues are the unability to run StarCraft 2 in compability mode in Windows, black screen when trying to use a Quick Cam webcam."

What they said that the overheating starts where you are in the Hyperion menu (a.k.a point and click game :D ) and the computer will try to render an infinite number of frames.

My friend said that this fix works but not fully because his computer had used to autoshutdown when he played the game unless he puts everything to extremely low. Now he said he can play much longer but the auto shutdown happens a few times still.

Hopefully this has helped people having GPU-related problems.

This... I dont see how a person can blame Blizzard for having their hardware not being cool enough... AT MOST SC2 can cause your GPU to run at full load... but that is almost expected with some of the requirements these days, if your GPU overheats on full load, get more fans, or Listen to KHAndAnime and turn up your GPU fans. inb4 "Zomg my GPU is wrapped in Insulation and it overheats on full load! Blame SC2!"

Doesn't affect me because I'm in a really cool air-conditioned room and sometimes I like to freeze the heck out of my room :P.

That and I got 4 fans inside my CPU.

So that's why I'm getting a black screen randomly? If so, I'll try it.

Ohh geez! Now that the casual PC Gamer / Console Gameris trying out StarCraft 2, they are just now realizing their lowly hardware doesn't have adequate cooling. Perhaps if they played other graphic intensive games before they wouldn't be blaming Blizzard.

Lol it shouldn't be the game causing that. That poster should get more fans or a better case with better ventilation to keep the gpu from overheating.
