The game runs like balls on my system. Slow down all the time. At first I had it cranked on Ultra thinking my rig could take it. It was basically unplayable with those frame rates.

I toned it down to High with no luck. Tried High with minimal, then no AA, still crappy.

Now I've got it on bloody MEDIUM. With all settings on medium with NO AA and every other effect turned off including water reflection and it still slows down when I look around. My hardware is running fine and at cool temps and all the firmwares are up to date. Why the hell is this game running so terribly!? This is absolutely ridiculous!

Okay so you'll want specs:

Intel i5-750

Asus P7P55DE-PRO

2x WD Black SATA 3 1.5TB

4x 2GB (8GB) Kingston Hyper X Blue 1600 DDR3

Asus GTX 560 Direct CU

Seasonic X-750

Skyrim is not the best looking game or most demanding, how is that relevant? the 560 is a monster compared to what Skyrim requires. Your PC is better overall, but Skyrim is just terrible, 570 here and I can't use ultra or AA (sliders are maxed), sure I used some "low" 2048 textures, didn't even go to 4096, but optimization is a joke, even so, it doesn't have as much problems as Fallout 3 or Obsidian's Fallout NV.

You should not have to run everything on medium with your comp... if this was me I would do a defrag with Defragller and then I would try 3-4 different graphics drivers see what one works best. If issues were still there I would check my mods and erase them and start from scratch adding each one separately to see if any of those are causing issues. And last but nto least I would prolly reformat my comp/reinstall windows,etc.. Your comp really shouldnt be running Skyrim that bad and be forced to run on medium..

Its not hte best optimized game, but ive seen the game run much better then your describing on computers simialir with settings at the highest.

Also if you feel like it try some of the performance mods, I have not tried them yet myself but I have heard from a few people they might helopp

This. GTX 580. Optimization is a joke. And it will never be fixed. It's something we all have to deal with. Framerate crawls in cities. The only time, TC, that you will get 60fps without a hitch are indoors, and dungeons.

I used to get 30-60 FPS (Ultra 4xAA), and now it's down to 25-50 FPS (Ultra 2xAA). I have a 560 too btw.

Thats not really 100% true, the times ive gotten low FPS is in dungeons (mainly the dwarf dungeon/cave with the golden robot kind guys). Citites dont give me issues, its more certain big dungeons, which is wierd as hell as there is not as much going on in the dungeons as there is cities..

Its definatly not the best optimized game, but it does run better then Fallout3 did for me, still thats not saying much, damn Bethesda engines :P

Skyrim is really buggy and runs like crap on most computers. Look for performance mods, they fix it a little bit. The new EnB has some optimizations, there's the SkyBoost and Acceleration Layer Mod. I don't know which one of the last two is better, but they seem to really improve perfomance.

This. I got it and it boosted my FPS by about 20 - I almost get 60FPS in cities now

This is why I just buy Bethesda games on Xbox 360 from now, I bought Oblivion on PC and it still to this day is stuttery, their engine's can be horrible.

Yep, that mod definitely is worth a try.

The game runs like crap for some people because it is very CPU hungry, and it's not utilizing all cores i think.

My previous rig had a Core 2 Quad running at 3 Ghz with a 480 GTX GPU and i had 15-30 fps in the cities with only 30-40% GPU usage. Now with my Sandy Bridge E processor i'm getting 45-60 fps constantly.

Lower your draw distance, and try that acceleration layer mod.

Yep, lowering draw distance a bit made the game a little faster for me. I've found the Skyboost mod to be faster than acceleration layer.... You should try both (they don't work together)

You'll benefit more from an overclocked CPU than a super powerful GPU.

GTX 580 owners gets 20-25 fps on cities. So the problem is not graphic card. It's Bethesda's non existent optimization.

Mouse movement is still horribly strange for me. Feels like I'm trying to look left with someone pulling me to the right.

Not to mention the FOV. Can't see anything more than 0.5 meters to my side.

It fixes the y-axis sensitivity problem if that is what you mean. The y-axis sensitivity is somehow tied to the framerate which is very odd.

If you haven't already try the d3d9.dll fix, it will force directx9 instead of emulating it as most Bethesda games do, it'll get you at least 20 extra fps Link: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778 or try this one for ATI (though I don't think you'll need it): http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970

there wasn't much change in the wonky mouse movement so i edited 2 files in the skyrim.ini file by changing both fmouseheadingscale to the same values, both being 0.0200, now it feels very consistent.

Oblivion's performance could suffer if you had a mod conflict. Fortunately you had utilities such as OBMM and Wrye Bash to help. Sounds like Skyrim needs its version of those, if it doesn't already have it.

Your CPU is weak ... And this game is badly optimized .. I was getting weak perfomance with a hd6950 (although i could run on ultra) but after adding a few high res texture packs my FPS went down to 20, i then installed a second 6950 in crossfire, it made a difference but not much, then i upgraded from a core i7 930 to a core i7 2600. Now i get close to 60 FPS all the time. This game requires better CPU, so upgrade.

Lowest I see it go is 30 fps, which isnt fantastic but I dont really care. Its certainly playable. Just be glad you dont have to suffer through the terrible console versions with fps dips below 20 fps and settings that are a mix of medium/low at 720p.

[QUOTE="ChuckPalomo"]If you haven't already try the d3d9.dll fix, it will force directx9 instead of emulating it as most Bethesda games do, it'll get you at least 20 extra fps Link: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778 or try this one for ATI (though I don't think you'll need it): http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970

no it doesnt...

Overclock your cpu, it loves the cpu.

Happened to me and works wonders. While the FPS is incosistent. I average 30-70FPS in cities, outdoors and in dungeons it's normally 50-100FPS and at 1080p too.

Runs fine for me. Skyboost does work. 19 x 12 , 4 AA , 16 AF, V-sync on, All ultra but shadows ( High ), all options on and sliders maxed, Hi Res foliage mod, tree and land shadows on etc...40 to 60 . i7 @ 3.2 6 g ddr 3 5970 120 SSD. Having to over clock or upgrade your CPU for this game just shows how badly optimized it is. I'd never do that for one game. Before OC ing or upgrading just wait till the tools come out so modders can fix it properly. Look at what they have done already.
