I hope I will never have that happening to me. How much did you leak test your system? I've also gone over every nipple and tightened them.. Will do so again soon I think.

yeah, that's the best thing to do... and the reason i had a problem. I did lots of leak checks over the first year i had it up, but once i changed the fluid, and still had no leaks after a few days... i just got cocky and stopped checking it like i should.

I had crappy barb fittings at the time, i think i wouldn't mind the maintenance with all the nice compression fittings out there now days.

@Curlyfrii87: Compression fittings look nice, but aren't easy to work with. They will twist the tubing somewhat.

I haven't gone over the fittings on the pump since I installed it I think, I should do that today.

Yeah, i could see that being annoying too. Are you using compression fittings?

I used compression fittings in my loop and love them. They are secure, easy to put on/remove, and look better imho. I haven't had any problem with my tubes twisting.

It's not much, but a little. Enough for me to notice it after it started leaking. What are the dimensions on the tubing you use? I have ID 1/2 and OD 3/4 I think... Thick big tubing. :P

@horgen: ha! I am using the same tubing. Its the thickest wall and biggest ID available.

In other news, Someone bought my Corsair TX850M this morning for $180, so I just ordered a Corsair AX1200i from Amazon as a replacement. It will be delivered to me on Monday. I can't wait!

Going up to a platinum rated PSU now? I think the AX1500i is Titanium rated :P The tubes doesn't "break" in the corners easily, but then they aren't the easiest to work with either.

@GarGx1: We have the same PSU. How long have you had yours?

@superclocked: You upgraded from the 7870XT you had? Or did you always have the 7950? Which at those clocks should be faster than a stock 7970. Right?

@horgen: Yeah, I had to get a new videocard, too. Games were starting to use more than 2GB of VRAM anyway, so I didn't mind having to replace it. But, when I first ran 3DMark 11, the 7950 wasn't any faster than my 7870 XT. I checked GPU-Z, and my GPU load was never at 100%. It seemed to max out at about 90% or so. So, I increased the power draw limit of the 7950 by 50% using MSI Afterburner, and my 3DMark 11 Fire Strike score went up by 2000 points. Increasing the max tdp of the card turned out to be essential after overclocking it..

As you can see, I wasn't impressed with the stock cooler, so I ended up putting one of my D-Tek waterblocks on the card to get it past 1.1GHz. But, I had to make a small shim to put between the waterblock and GPU. The bracket around the GPU sits higher than the GPU itself, and the gap was far too large to fill with thermal paste. So, I cut thin, aluminum square off of an old heatsink and sanded it for about 2 hours. I had to make it perfectly flat, and also very, very thin. Using a shim works perfectly fine, though. My GPU stays nice and cool now..

And, at 1.2GHz, it's definitely faster than a 7970. My GPU temp is still so low, though, I'm thinking about increasing the voltage by modding the bios. I have it set to 1.3v, and it drops to about 1.26 under load, so I'm thinking about increasing it to 1.4v. I only have one worry about doing it. I can't set the max tdp of the card any higher than 50% over stock, so I'm not sure if it would be worth it. But, I'll get bored one day and give it a try...

If you are first going to get a custom bios or make modifications in it, put the power limit to 200% or so. It has a 8pin contact right? You can get a lot more than 150W through it if you have a newer high quality PSU. Pretty much what AMD expects you to have if you purchase the R9 295X2... I bet you can get more power through the 6 pin as well.

@horgen: It's got 2x 6pin connectors. But, I've read that increasing the power limit beyond 50% doesn't actually do anything. Any value beyond 50% results in an increase of just 50%, even when the value is changed in the bios. I'll give it a try and see what happens, though. 50% may just be the maximum number that the drivers will report, or the max tdp may be limited by logic in a chip...

I think it's been about 6 years since I last posted on these forums. I Decided to build a new rig a couple weeks ago. I basically kept my old power supply, the 1TB storage drive, and Blu-ray drive. Still have a couple upgrades coming. (more RAM, SLI, another monitor, custom GPU loop...) I've since completely rearranged the room this was in and cleaned up the rat's nest of wiring.

That's all I have to say for now.

I actually went ahead and modded the bios to allow a much higher power draw. My max TDP is now 375w :) I also increased my voltage to 1.4v, but it drops as low as 1.3v under load, so I'm going to do a hard mod sometime soon. The hard mod should increase my voltage to 1.6v, or about 1.5v after vdroop...

I finally had time to install my new Corsair AX1200i today.

First I had to remove my Corsair TX850M, and move my 120mm radiator to make room for the slightly longer AX1200i.

Then I installed my new psu and filled the loop.

It has been a fun and busy day today. I'm still getting the last of the air out of the loop and checking/testing for leaks.

@Bikouchu35: Originally I had built the Eyefinity rig with a 6990, three Dell 24" monitors and three monitor arms. Shortly after that, a buddy of mine was selling his Dell 27" 1440p IPS monitors for $500 a piece, which was way too good a deal to pass up. I bought those off of him, then bought one more on sale to upgrade to three 27" monitors. Of course, this means I had to buy three new monitor arms (the ones I had for the 24" monitors couldn't support the weight). After upgrading, I never got rid of the 24s so now I have two sets of three.

@horgen: It certainly helps, but 7680x1440 is a bit rough even for a 7990. On Dirt 3 I have to drop to medium settings to keep the frame rate about 60. Some games I can play maxed, but "cutting edge" stuff is always pushing the limit.

All of my temps are really low, so the card should last as long as I need it to. My GPU and VRM's run in the 30's, and I have my voltage controller heatsinked as well. It'll be a while before I get to doing the hard mod, anyway. I don't feel like pulling everything apart atm...

Even though computer equipment costs way more here in Norway, I would be really happy if I got 2K $ yearly to spend on computer upgrades. SLI and a new monitor would be first upgrades.

@horgen: Well, it's not like I bought everything at once. This has been cobbled together over many years. Regarding the cockpit, since it runs about as much as a nice desk that was the argument I used with my wife in favor of getting it instead of another desk for the room.
