Second overclock attempt........success!!

I tried the first time and had to restart the cmos. This time I slowly brought the fsb up. Decided to stop at 333 mhz which put my e6420 at 2.66 Ghz. It idles around 50C and goes around 64C at load. It made quite a bit of difference.

Just thought I would share. Thanks.

those temps are very high, your going to burn out your cpu unless you get better cooling

Sorry, I was thinking my gpu. My cpu is about 32 idle and doesnt get much above 55 at load.

Then thats much better. Also sounds like you have some head room for high clocks.

BTW what is you Motherboard???

Because the better your Motherboard the higher you can OC your CPU...

I have an Asus AW9D-MAX motherboard. Also, I ran PCMark 05 and at stock(2.13) I get 5998 and after oc(2.66) I get 7001! I just might try and push it a little farther.

Yeah, the temps are pretty high.

My CPU and Mobo gets cooler as I overclock higher, which I think is odd, but possible. I always check my BIOS temp to confirm. I guess I can't complain, I have a good batch. ;)

You have no idea what you're talking about. 64C is just fine.

They probably won't burn but they are above ideal temps.

sigh when the tj max is 85 C u dont have much headroom
