RE4 "real" HD remaster coming along nicely PC

so we know the re4 hd insult capcom put out on pc and consoles right?

it was at least 60fps...thank goodness.. but the textures were the same as the gamecube/ps2....

well the re4 hd remaster project wants to remedy that.

i just realized there is a grain removal mod...

i just tried playing the game in 4k 60fps with the grain removal mod....ummm wow....maybe i dont need the texture pack? lol

idk... should still be awesome to see.

TBH I didn't have much of an issue when it came to the games textures, playing it at 4k it's still a nice looking game with silky smooth 60fps.

Of course this is welcome, and looks even better.

i thought since the latest youtube videos were called textrure pack preview...i thought it was close to completion now.

but i see all his videos are called "preview" :P

Take a look at the 'progress summary' page. One year ago the Castle progress had ~1/4 complete parts, ~1/4 pending and 1/2 in progress.

The textures look really crisp! I like how some of it almost looks like it pops out but the biggest thing I noticed was the lack of the noise filter. Why take it away? If it were me, I would have added a color filter to get rid of that last century washed out look the game always had. Maybe replace some of the textures too or something. Looks nice though!

it shouldn't be up to the community to fix broken/lazy products.

Sure would be great if Code Veronica and Outbreak was on pc.

i actually like older games like this one on consoles more, because the low res and grain blur out those god-ugly textures and models. the result is smoother, since you can't actually see so clearly just how ugly the textures and models really are.

when you see all that crap in crispy 4k, it's not really my idea of beautiful... i mean, there's nothing you'd want to see that clearly.

Disagree, while it's not amazing I never found the graphics offensive. I'm willing to put up with a few splodge textures if it means 60fps and crisp edges.

The pc version comes with a few color filers as well, I quite like the second one,

the guy is also fixing glitches of the game.

yes...just like console...that was the point of the controls.....

there is a mouse sensitivity option that helps a lot for aiming.

Low FOV is the biggest issue at the moment. Have to play at 21:9 resolution on my 16:10 monitor to get a decent horizontal coverage.

So how's this any different than the many hd texture mods that are already out for it? also is this available now, the mod?

this is a full retexture with an aim to stay as faithful to the original intent as possible.

it isnt some half assed mod.

should be available sometime next year.

does the pc version have less fov than console?

@KBFloYd: Never seen the console version myself, but the fact that it is not possible to change it even in ini/config files, makes me think that both have the same FOV, which is locked to vertical resolution so the wider the aspect ratio, the more horizontal field of view you get (but you have to then use Flawless Widescreen to fix the UI/Menus as these scale with horizontal resolution and get chopped off at bottom/top at 21:9 ratio).

I think I read somewhere that these guys have actually gone and taken pictures of the exact same places Capcom did as references in the original. Don't know if other mods have done this or not.

People need to move on from RE4. It's not even the best RE in my opinion.

Just bought it for £6 on amazon and it £14,99 on steam thought it was a bargin.

These guys have been at it for a while with constant updates.... I played the demo/village portion they released. Real impressive and I look forward to the complete build.

omg...i didnt know there was a village download preview.

just installed it and tried it a bit at 4k60....it remains very true to the original but makes everything so much better! wonderful imo.

Its great... and even though only the village gets the treatment, all the weapons/pickups/barrels and Leon's clothing stays modded throughout.
