I wanted to ask any gamers out there that game higher than 1080p, or anyone who knows really, if most of the games released in the last couple of years support 2560x1440 resolution?

I will be upgrading my monitor by the end of the year, and I was thinking of a 27inch 2560x1440 Asus G-Sync equipped monitor. That hopefully would last me at least 5 years without needing to upgrade.

The only games I've played that don't support that resolution are 90's shooters like Quake and Unreal Tournament. All games from the past few years support it.

K, thanks a bunch guys, I figured that most would, but I feel better hearing from people who have at least used that resolution for games.

Quake 3 supports any resolution, quake 1/2 probably do as well if you use the opengl verison.

r_mode -1

r_customwidth 1920

r_customheight 1080

To the tc, if a game supports 1080p, it's going to support 1440p.

@JigglyWiggly_: Thats basically what I was thinking, I was just seeking validation. You guys make me feel better about upgrading from 1080p, without having to go 4k.

Just make sure you have the graphics power to handle it.

@k3ck: I hope I will, seeing as how I will be building a new rig on the new DDR4 systems. 6 core Intel Icore7, and either a GTX880, or GTX870 with at least 4gb of VRAM depending on price. I am assuming that will handle 2560x1440, especially since I don't have to worry about V-sync, or screen tearing, or using as much anti-aliasing. (theoretically of course)

Also gives me more screen space with 27inches, while a slightly denser pixel count compared to what I am working with (23inch 1080p). Which will help with my music software I think.
