Punkbuster grrr!

I was playing Bf2142 and punkbuster keeps kicking me for "service communication failure" I updated bf2142 on punkbuster and it didn't help, what should i do?

sounds like a internet connection issue, but I am not sure. Just try other servers.

I did, and now I tried downloading some thing for punkbuster, and I think now everyone needs punkbstrB on their computers, so while I was updating " sending report for punkbstrB" "error-could not find" it said something to that effect

ive had the same issue before.. couldnt find anything of use. It was one of the main reasons i stoped playing cod2 way back when.

so you couldn't find out what's wrong with it, and stopped playing it. Did you problem only have to do with one game, or all pb games? ( I don't know if pb is doing this to all my games yet)

the only PB game i had at the time was cod2.. Ever sense then i try to avoid games that use PB.. I think its a horrible anti-cheat system, yes it stops some hackers but at what cost? making the game unplayable to legit users?

I completely agree, I HATE punkbuster, I find it worthless and annoying

Get rid of it lol, but I am not sure you can do that because I haven't played BF2142 in forever, but I kind of want to now....hmmm

... thats not helpful at all he wants to play the game and its a good game.

Best bet is to contact punkbuster, ive found them very helpful in the past. just send them a quick email explaining anything. also take a look in the console it will probably give you more information

put the disc in the cd drive open the cd DO NOT RUN THE GAME

OPEN THE DISC SO YOUR VEIWING THE FILES there should be a pb icon there or a folder

click on the icon or folder (find the icon either way)

a window should pop up asking to re-installe or un installe

re-installe the pb client

restart your comp when finished

(you may have to update pb again!)

I play SOF2 and haven't had a problem with it so far.
Though a month or two ago every player got kicked and we pretty much all had to update our punkbuster. Most of them updated in-game using 'pb_sv_enable' and then 'pb_sv_update'. But others (including me) downloaded the pbsetup.exe file from evenbalance.com and updated through that.

Pbsetup.exe should generate it.

I have heard of a lot of ppl having issues with punkbuster. It sounds like it has a lot of bugs that kick users off for no reason.df853

It doesn't do that for no reason. It's just that it is very unstable and if there are lag spikes even though your ping is around 80 you CAN get kicked because it doesn't receive some packages and it thinks that you might try to hack and the information you hacked might be in that packages that it didn't received, but it doesn't assume that and instead of baning you, it kicks you for 0 minutes :|. I hate it too, but it's bad that many good games today use PB so I can't really not use it :(, CoD4 uses it, ETQW uses it, and many other fps games.

And I've stopped buying any online shooter with it.

The easiest way to do it if you are still having trouble is to uninstall BF2142 and PB and install them again. You need to install PB again, the program, not the update. You can install it from the link I gave you or you can install it with BF2142 again.
